I finished my video for last week’s Cider Ride, and it is ready for viewing!

I tried to put as many forumites that I could recognize as possible, so I hope you see yourself somewhere in there. I really had a lot of fun on the ride including before and after. There were a couple of instances where I turned my camera on to film, yet it decided to only record for 5 or so seconds (see: the College Park Trolley Trail footage only being a couple of seconds, grr), but I made do with the footage of the beautiful scenery that I was able to acquire.

FYI – the music is Bela Fleck (I love me some banjo; other favorite instrument than piano that I love hearing in music and have a beginner ability to play).

    Here is the video:

Bob – you are awesome. That was fun to watch and makes me wish I had been able to ride this year. WABA could use it as a promo for next year’s ride!

Another great video. The spinning cup at the end was a nice touch. I agree with Steve O that it would make a great promo for next year’s Cider Ride, especially the shots of riding through the tree canopies with changing leaves.

I’m glad you liked it! If WABA wants to use it for promotional purposes, they have my permission (my only stipulations are that 1) they contact me, and 2) they credit me). I’d be glad to help get others to do this ride, especially since I enjoyed it so much myself.

Btw, the cup thing: I got the idea of rotating the cup, but I didn’t know how to do it. I tried about 6 different ways but hated the results due to camera shake, the cup not rotating on a vertical axis relative to the camera, and the cup not resting on a flat surface (I knew the result I wanted, but figuring it out was the difficult part). It was one of those moments that I have where I’ll obsess over figuring out some minute thing that hopefully turns out awesome like that time I stopped for ~10 mintues (?) to get my close-up shot of the dragonfly during a group ride on the Indian Head Rail Trail.

I’ll also try and figure out how to mount a backward-facing camera on my road bike like I do for my hybrid so that in future road bike rides I can get more of people’s front side than back side. On my hybrid, I mount the camera to one of my rear baskets, but I don’t have much on the back of the road bike. Stuff to figure out, I guess.

I bought this combo about 6 months ago and have been very happy with it. once tightened, I haven’t had to touch the seat mount, and the handlebar mount I’ve moved between three different bikes several times.

I’ve got a Cycliq Fly6. It attaches to the seat post, and serves as a taillight as well as a video camera.
