ParticipantAs much as I would love to ride with Kitty & consular, in the interest of spreading out the marshals so we’re not all clumped together at the front, I will plan to roll at 8:50.
However, I may want to convoy over with you, consular, and just hang out longer at the start. Post your ride coordinates for getting there.

I’m thinking of riding the W&OD/4MRT/MVT/14th St Bridge/Jefferson Dr/Union Station/MBT (15 miles from my house) and leaving around 7 am. That would give us the chance to hook-up with riders coming from Alexandria.

Don’t wait for me Chris. I’ll probably ride in later.

Hi all, sorry I haven’t been able to post much lately. NOTE for Cider Ride marshalls and just overall helper-bees: the routes have been tweaked a bit this year. The longer route now goes back past the Greenbelt Metro and Lake Artemesia after the Greenbelt Cider stop. (We skipped the Greenbelt National Park bit this year in favor of a more commuter-oriented route. Note the straight through crossing of Keniworth Ave right after the stop at Greenbelt Lake and the little path up to Ivy Lane).
The route now also extends further south into DC on the Anacostia River trail on the south side, before doubling back on the north side to the RFK stadium area. This is a great addition that will really show of those wonderful sections of trail in DC.
Check your maps! -Jeff
PS. We’re expecting rain Friday night. Please remind fellow riders to watch out for siippery wood bridges and wet leaves. And, as always, in Prince George’s county, watch for unexpected bollards at trail entrances. We got some removed under the underpasses last year, but still several awkwardly placed bollards at road/trail intersections.

ParticipantI will be there about 9 and am doing the 30 mile ride, I think.
I believe Karen W. is marshalling that one.The longer ride -50 mi (ish) rolling start Is supposed to be 9-930. Are you doing that one?
Maybe i’ll see you at the start or the end.

ParticipantCurrent plan is for M and I to roll out of our garage around 9:40, check-in around 9:45, and be ready to go out with the first wave of McIntosh (~28 miles) at 10. We’ll probably stop for lunch in Hyattsville on the way back; not sure about the after party. Alternative plan is she decides to stay home, in which case I talk myself into the longer ride/earlier start/etc. Alternative alternative plan is that we go to check-in at 8:30 to get cue sheets/swag/whatever, then hightail it to Arlington for the Kidical Mass Ride/Junior Ranger program that starts at 9:30, take a nice leisurely ride there, and then race back to DC to do some of the Cider Ride in our own fashion and see if we can get to the Proteus pitstop before it closes at 1:30.
In any case, see folks out there sometime/somewhere!

ParticipantI’ll be volunteering at the Proteus pitstop. Say hi when you roll through!

ParticipantI’m going to be riding tandem, but not the whole route. We’re going to leave from Greenbelt at 9:15 at the New Deal cafe, and planning to get to Shortcake Bakery for snacks at about 9:45. Then we’ll be riding the longer-route, but short- circuiting back in Greenbelt. If anyone would like to ride with us for those parts, we’ll probably be at Shortcake baker until about 10am, then to Proteus by about 10:45 or so. So I won’t be going to the start/finish this year — no Cider for me! -Jeff

ParticipantI’m looking forward to the Cider Ride tomorrow! Thank you to all the great sponsors, like Proteus, for making it possible.
I was excited to see that two of the routes, the Honeycrisp and McIntosh, will pass through the cool, little town I live in, Riverdale Park.
I know WABA has some great pit stops planned, and many of you know the area as well or better than I do; but, I wanted to share some ideas for those of you that may be looking for an unofficial pit stop along the way or for a future visit:
Riverdale Park Station (around mile 14.5 on the McIntosh Route) – includes a Whole Foods and several fast casual dining options.
Town Center Market (just before mile 38 on the Honeycrisp Route, just off the Trolley Trail of the McIntosh Route after passing the Riverdale MARC station) – has one of the best craft beer and wine selections in the DC area, including 32 rotating taps ( https://www.towncentermarket.net/ ). The nearby Dumm’s serves pizza and subs.
Franklins (about mile 38.5 of the Honeycrisp Route and 16 of the McIntosh Route) – a local institution with a brewery, restaurant, and eclectic toy store (http://www.franklinsbrewery.com/ ).
Vigilante Coffee (not directly on the route, but about a block away from Franklin’s across Route 1/Baltimore Avenue) – roasts fantastic coffee and has built a really cool café (http://vigilantecoffee.com/ ).
Several great options along the section of the routes along Baltimore Ave, which is the gap in trail network between the Trolley Trail and Anacostia Tributary Trail network that WABA has been advocating to connect, include:
Streetcar 82 Brewery – a new brewery that opened this summer (https://www.facebook.com/Streetcar82/ ; https://dcist.com/story/18/08/15/streetcar-82-brewing-offers-new-hub/ )
Pizza Paradiso (https://www.eatyourpizza.com/ ) – a great regional chain that shares a building with an arts nonprofit
Maryland Meadworks – a new meadery that opened in October and just posted it will be offering free samples tomorrow (https://www.facebook.com/marylandmeadworks/ ; http://hyattsvillelife.com/mead-in-hyattsville-longtime-resident-creates-buzz-with-opening-of-maryland-meadworks/ )
Shortcake Bakery (https://shortcakebakery.com/) – an amazing bakery.
There are many other great options, but I thought I’d share a few suggestions that may pique someone’s curiosity.
Enjoy the ride!

ParticipantI just got done with the most physically exhausting day of work in my life so I’m bowing out of the long ride tomorrow. I’ll show up around 9 and may do a ten miler and pick up my mug if I can manage that.
