Check with WABA. They still may need marshals

Some of us from the BBBB group (it’s a secret society – ssshhh) will be rolling about 9:30 on the Honeycrisp. You can look for me or SarahBee or Boomer. I have bicycle icicles just below my saddle. And a brand new, bright, dynamo powered tail light.

Ah! I was thinking I’d have to try to be there by 8:30, but to be real, I’ll be riding there from Rosslyn. Meeting up at 9:30 sounds doable.

See if you can still volunteer as a Bike Marshal.

Here are some secret tips for extra food and drinks along the ride routes. Most of these places you can watch your bike pretty easy if you don’t bring a lock, but I’d still recommend bringing at least a cable lock if you plan on stopping for additional refreshment. And of course, the Dew Drop Inn will be a great pre-ride home food and beverage stop.

    Short Route

Mile 4 Shortcake Bakery (pastries, coffee) — NW Branch Trail at Route 1
Mile 13 Fishnet Restaurant (food, beer, outdoor/indoor seating) — College Park Trolley Trail at Berwyn Road
Mile 15 Riverdale Market (beer on tap, snacks) — Queensbury Road at the MARC/CSX railroad crossing
Mile 16 Franklins Restaurant (beer on tap, food, lots of bike parking) Hyattsville Trolley Trail at Route 1
Mile 16 Vigilante Coffee (across Route 1 and down an alley to the left from Frankins)

This is hugely helpful. Thanks. I completely understand why, from WABA’s standpoint, they don’t release cue sheets. But when you’re planning to take little kids out on extended excursions, planning things like food and potty breaks is crucial, and not knowing where you’re going makes that nearly impossible.

I will be a marshal for the 23 mile route, rolling out at 10:30 AM from the start line. Colin will be lead marshal for the 48 mile route, rolling at 08:30 AM.

Michelle Cleveland of WABA was still looking for marshals as of yesterday, especially since I switched from marshaling the 48 mile route to the 23 mile, FYI. Volunteer marshals also get to ride for free, and wear neat looking WABA safety vests, too:-)

Arlingtonrider and I will be meeting up at Ebenezer’s Coffeehouse (201 F St NE, Washington, DC 20002) near the beginning of the MBT at 10:00 tomorrow to do do the 23 miler Cider ride. If anyone wants to join our little team please shoot me or Arlingtonrider a private message. :)

Boomer – We’re going to try to roll out from Eb’s at 10 so we can get signed in and look for you! ;)

My estimated start time for the Honeycrisp (longer route) is 9:30. Would love to have some people join me, since Boomer and Sarah have downgraded to the shorter route.

Steve, that’s about when I’ll be heading out if you want. Hoping to get to the start around 9:20 and head out shortly after.

I’ll ride with you Steve if you want (assuming you’re going to do the actual Honeycrisp route and not Greenbelt’s “Cue-sheets-be-damned-magical-mystery-tour”) and can show up later to accommodate.

If not, let me know and I might try to catch Colin’s 8:30 roll-out.

In any event, despite the possible vitriol from riding in College Park tomorrow, I’ll be in my white Michigan State jersey again because it is a football Saturday in fall and I am obligated to wear Green and White on game days. (Interestingly, MSU is playing Maryland tomorrow)
