Just to give you guys a heads-up. Washington Lee H.S. is doing their cross country try-outs tomorrow, 9/3 from 7:30-9:00. They will be on the stretch of the WOD around Bluemont and Bon Air Parks. Obviously they are not closing anything, but there will be about 150 kids. And yes, they will be on their side and respectful. I wanted you to be aware of our little guys.
If it is AM, that sounds like a very bad choice. Would FMR not be possible?
Either way, please, please, please tell the kids to be very careful when turning or turning around. Just to assume there’s a bike coming up behind you.
I was biking home along the Custis in the spring, and kids from W-L were out on the trail. Some were headed west, some east (different speeds, I assume). At one particularly wide point, there were kids in both directions, but it was otherwise clear. The kids had been great about staying right and predictable. I dinged my bell and pulled to the center to pass, and suddenly, one kid from my side, and one kid from the other jump to the center of the trail to high-five. Luckily, I had already slowed around the kids, but it was a completely unpredictable, unsafe move. Tell them not to do sh*t like that.
