This bike has already been featured here so I’ll expound on the brilliance of this n+1 challenge. Creating the opportunity to ride other people’s bikes is brilliant. As a result of this challenge I can confirm than Hans builds great wheels; that a 54 cm frame is that crucial 1cm too large; that belt drives are quiet, smooth and nifty; that you can have quiet fenders; and that while I love most all bikes I really LOVE mine!

N=8, Volagi Viscio. I rode kayakcyndi’s fancy carbon road bike with fancy carbon wheels around Hain’s Point and up Four Mile Run. Fast, nimble, light, and it fits me perfectly.

It’s a Liscio Shawn! And I was a little afraid I might not get it back. You looked quite comfy.

Glad you’re enjoying it! Now I wish I’d been on carbon wheels when I was on the Liscio.

Also, according to Bicycling Magazine, so it MUST be right

The ETT of the 54 Riveter is 18 mm longer than the 53 Liscio. Read those size charts closely, kids.

So let’s see, you have a zero offset seat post and I have a standard setback. That should decrease the reach by a few mm. Swap your 90 stem for an 80 and narrow your bars and you might be right comfy!

I’m going to jump into this competition.

My CX Bike I’ll call 1. It is a 2015 Redline Conquest Pro I bought slightly used in January. Full carbon, setup with Sram Force CX-1 and hydro discs it is an absolute to dream to ride.

My Commuter is 2. It’s a 2014 Jamis Bosanova and has been a freaking workhorse. It may weighs well over 30lbs, but once it is moving the ride is so smooth (steel is real, and a carbon fork helps). It is currently down with 2 slashed tires courtesy of my crazy ex. Aside from new tires, it is also awaiting a new crankset and shifters. I’m tired of the triple and Tiagra, a compact double and 105 seem like a good upgrade.

I’ll have to start taking pictures of my other bikes when I ride them so I can submit them.

For #3 I have my Dad’s 1990’s Era Litespeed Ultimate. Titanium frame with a Look carbon fork, mix of Shimano 600 and Dura-Ace Components, and Mavic SUP wheels. Space age race bike back in the day. Still fairly light and stiff, a fun ride for sure. The 600 shifters really need new springs, it kind of shifted when it wanted to. I would love to take this frame and put modern components on it. He used to have Speedplay pedals on it, no clue where those are, riding with Toe-Clips was interesting.

Love seeing the 90’s Ti! I strongly considered Redline bikes when I got my Kona but the shop didn’t really carry them except for special order so I couldn’t really test ride.

Just a note though, that’s the same ride day as your n = 2 Bosanova so going to give you 2.5 until you manage to ride it again (with a different ride day)

For my n=10, it’s kayakcyndi’s OTHER Volagi! Just as with the Liscio I thought it rode really smooth, and although you can attribute some of that to the 40mm tires, I thought the overall feel was very nice and easy to ride… steel is real. Enjoyed the FSA K-Wing? handlebars too (40cm), comfy and compact, and the brakes were definitely better adjusted than mine. I feel like most of my bars are a little wide now for some reason. SRAM shifting is always fun after being so used to Shimano.

Look at the date on the Strava ride for my Bosanova, Feb 24th.

I was torn between the Redline and a Van Dessel Full Tilt Boogie (both used). The Hydro discs vs Canti’s and the fact that Bikenetic is a Redline dealer (warranty help) swayed me towards the Conquest Pro. I’ve never had a bike this nice so I’m probably biased, but it blows my mind how much fun it is to ride.

If I hadn’t gone the used route, I was going to go with a Kona Private Jake or Jamis Nova Pro.

Weird, I could’ve sworn they were the same date when I looked! Full credit applied.

I love the hydro discs on my Raleigh SSCX. Funny how it can make a bike that much better to ride! I’ve been thinking of selling my Jake to get something nicer and so that I’d have hydro + thru axles on both my CX bikes but haven’t found anything that really grabs my fancy. The Private Jake and carbon Salsa Warbird are closest to what I’m looking for but the carbon Warbirds are out of stock, and although I love the Kona brand I feel like the Private Jake is not really a big enough upgrade to justify. I like the specs for the carbon Jamis Renegade in theory, but I don’t really like the frame shapes/paint on the carbon version and the wheel stickers are soooo garish – I don’t mind their Nova/Supernova lines though – that’s probably my last option. For now I’m trying to convince myself the Jake is just fine!

Pretty sure we ride about the same size bikes. And we’re on the same team!

Any interest in joining forces for a 2-piece order of http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/CX-road-bike-frame-with-142_60299025774.html?spm=a2700.7724838.0.0.LowfYZ ? BSA, [option of] tapered HT, 142×12 TA, Di2 ready, internal shifter routing …

I love my cx/commuter, but I could be tempted if the price were low enough (I’m assuming it’s somewhere in the $500-700 range, but haven’t inquired).
