    Okay enough already.

I believe that the Va shutdown is different from the federal shutdown. But I am not going to explain why, because this forum is about CYCLING.

I believe that ACDC enforcing its bylaws is appropriate, but will not explain why, because this forum is about CYCLING.

I think its pretty clear that the Va shutdown will have minimal direct impact on cyclists qua cyclists, even less than the federal shutdown did. So can we drop further discussion?

Its good that cycling can draw people from across the spectrum. But surely there are better places to discuss (non activetransportation related) politics?

I agree that we should limit partisan political discussions on this forum, except to the extent that they directly affect cycling and cycling-related issues. That’s why I tried to focus on the cycling aspect from the very start of the thread. Given the issues we had during the federal gov’t shutdown last year, it’s reasonable to wonder how a Virginia state/Commonwealth shutdown could affect cycling in Northern Virginia.

note: the situation with the trash cans and portajohns will be grim

The garbage pickup and portajohn maintenance is a good point. That could become a nuisance. Volunteers might be able to handle some of the garbage cans, although it’s not reasonable to expect the same level of service as with paid full-time staff. And there’s no way volunteers are going to handle portajohn clean-up unless someone is very, very Samaritan-like and has the necessary equipment for hauling off or pumping those units. Even then, they won’t have authorization to haul off those units.
