The economy explains part of the decline, but not before 2007. The rise of interactive websites/social media and more advanced smartphones/tablets has more to do with it, plus the desire for younger adults to live in walkable communities that have transit and bike options too. Will the trend toward less driving be a permanent one? I don’t know. I hope it is. Fewer road deaths, less pollution, healthier and happier human beings — all good things in my book.

    1) Awesome.
    2) That quote would be a clear case of fair use even if the Creative Commons license didn’t explicitly permit it. The license permits you to use the whole thing in any non-commercial manner you choose so long as you properly attribute it. The fact that quoting this snippet makes you nervous at all is why, if Dante were alive today, he would have made another circle of Hell dedicated to intellectual property lawyers.

Everyone hates intellectual property lawyers until they need one.
