The survey remains open until April 28. It might help to get as much constructive feedback on the proposal from as many cyclists as possible.
VDOT is proposing to modify US Bike Route 1, particularly in Old Town Alexandria, Ft. Belvoir, Occoquan and Prince William County. I’m just about to try out the survey so I don’t know what the proposals are yet. From previous threads, I know that USBR 1 really isn’t a great route past Mount Vernon. I have also read that VDOT and other agencies are looking to upgrade the travel corridor along U.S. Route 1. The proposal includes a new multi-use bike/pedestrian trail along Rte 1 past the Mount Vernon area, but final decisions haven’t been made yet.
Maybe feedback from this survey can help sway decision-makers to include the bike/pedestrian trail in the new Rte. 1 corridor.
