So in 2006 I purchased a new Breezer Freedom with a 3 speed hub. I recently upgraded to a 7 speed hub with a new rear wheel on the bike.
Now, I have the hub built into the 32 spoke 26 inch rear wheel, cable, and shifter, basically everything you would need to convert an existing bike into a 3 speed. I am not sure what width tires the wheel would take, the ones on it before were 1.75 width.
I have put about 3000 miles on the hub with no problems. The rear wheel was rebuilt by hand by Bikes@Vienna after I had some problems with the machine built one that came with the bike in 2007. Since then there have been no problems with the wheel.
The reason why I upgraded is because I started biking longer distances with more elevation changes on this bike and needed more gears, plus my legs are getting older.
There are some new ones going for at least $50 plus $15 S&H on Ebay. I will part with this for $40. I will post pictures soon. Send me an email if interested.
