    It doesn’t seem to be the kind of “pedestrian” street that you see in the center of towns in Germany – where the cars are discouraged, peds can go anywhere, bikes are supposed to ride slowly. I believe the speed limits (for bikes and cars) on those is 10 kph. I’ve also never seen one that’s two-way for cars. This just sounds like in leiu of a curb they’re going to level everything and paint lines. Unless they enforce a very slow speed limit, I doubt this is a good idea.

    It could be a good idea if it’s carried out correctly. If the road surface is changed from black asphalt to block pavers for example and other features are added to create a different environment then I think it could work. Why not do this for king street too and make the entire area a pedestrian friendly area? I’ve seen this kind of thing in Britain and it can work.
