ParticipantAnd of course, The Flying Scotsman, a true story about the Scottish cyclist Graeme Bree, and his achievements and struggles in the racing community.

ParticipantThanks for the recommendations! The Flying Scotsman has been in my Netflix queue forever – it’s time to move that one up. 2 Seconds will be here today, but unfortunately, they don’t have Bicycle Dreams.
Another one I’ve been meaning to see is Ride the Divide, a documentary about the 2700 mile ride along the Continental Divide. A friend of mine is doing that ride later this year to raise money for cancer research – I really need to get my hands on a copy and watch it soon.

ParticipantThanks you two! I’ll be sure to check those out! Only one I’ve ever even heard of is the Flying Scotsman.

ParticipantThank you for the suggestions, it will give me a nice break from “Land of the Lost,” my kid’s current favorite.

ParticipantI enjoyed Ride the Divide, the individual personalities are captured well and the participants are generally good natured and friendly. Love the scene of Matthew eating a cherry pie with dehydrated coffee sprinkled over the top. I was able to rent this film via I-Tunes.

ParticipantYou can’t have a bike movie thread and not mention 24 Solo, about Bike Arlington’s own Chris Eatough in his bid to win his 7th 24 hour solo world championship! Netflix says it’s available, but it sat in my Saved list for ages. So I bought a copy. http://www.grippedstore.com/ I was able to get another Gripped film from Netflix, Off Road to Athens, which is equally entertaining.

Chasing Legends, done by the same film crew lead by Arlington resident Jason Berry, is also extremely good too!

I was going to post the same thing – really great “on the ground” look at a Grand Tour you’ll never get from Phil and Paul on Versus. And I love Phil and Paul.

ParticipantWhat, 10 post in and no one’s given “Breaking Away” ?
January 13, 2011 at 10:27 pm #924565acc
ParticipantAs a kid I saw “Breaking Away” then bugged my parents for a “good” bike. Back in the day, there were no helmets. I shudder to remember.

ParticipantOn the MTB side there is Seasons, which is awesome! Produced by a company called The Collective.
I agree, Race Across the Sky was much much better than I thought it would be. Not sure why but I had low expectations for that one, but I was very impressed.

ParticipantMy copy of Ride the Divide arrived last night. My buddy Erik (the one doing it this year) will be in town this weekend, so I need to make time for it tonight so I know what he’s getting himself into.
