Still unsure of lodging arrangements at the moment, but if I end up camping or in the dorms (more probable than not at this point), I will have two seats and two open racks (assuming you tall people can put your own bikes on the roof) if you are okay with leaving mid-day on Friday and returning on Sunday afternoon-ish. (Marc has first dibs, but I have four racks on my car.)
How’s the camping out there?

Not 100% sure. Pete seemed to enjoy it last year and is camping again this year.

ParticipantRe-hijacking this thread back to the viewing party. Those of you who want to discuss GRUSK – Get your own thread, and get off my lawn!
Lots of conflict with July 8 it seems. However, we have a generous offer of July 15 and swimming pool from TwoWheels. Emm has also offered her ginormous TV and spacious venue. Birru claims to have a projector. Sarah, komo and myself are offering to bring victuals & potables. Seems if there’s fewer conflicts on 7/15 and twowheels & emm can arm wrestle for broadcast rights we might have a thing.

We did, where we got slightly sidetracked and talked about Tour de Pharmacy for a bit. [emoji854]

This also gives us enough time to get “express written permission” from HBO.

Alright, I volunteer to be the primary viewing spot, and maybe Emm as a rain/weather/lack-of- projector/etc… backup? Obviously, an outdoor screening at my house would have to be post-sunset. But there could be an afternoon ride, then pool, then grilling, then back in the pool for viewing.

ParticipantDo you have a good flat surface where we can project the image? My screen is permanent and not portable

We have a 7ish foot fence…we could easily staple a white sheet to it for good measure.

I’ve got a 1080p projector hooked up and an old 720p projector in storage. I could grab whichever one still has a bright bulb.
So this thread inspired me to get my own portable projector so we could do more outside movie viewing…It’s supposed to come in the mail today, so I’m going to test it over the next couple of weeks and see how well it does. So I think you’re off the hook.

Nice, that means I can ride! Which projector did you get? And is it a model with its own internal speaker?

The AAXA P300. It’s small and was relatively cheap, and has a battery and speaker. I have a portable speaker that I can plug in for better sound, though, so I’ll probably stick with that. But now I have a few weeks to experiment with placement and screen options. I’m actually thinking the front of my shed may be the best option (using blackout cloth as a screen), but we’ll see. I use Playstation VUE for TV, so I’ll probably also pick up an HDMI adapter for my iPad and try that as the media hub.

It’s a bummer that I’ll be out of town the weekend of the party – otherwise I could provide all the audio wattage you might possibly need. Oh well, perhaps for a future movie …

Let me know how your tests work out. My Epson 8500UB is rated at up to 1600 lumens if we need more juice.

ParticipantOkay, I put this on the calendar for July 15 at 3pm. I was thinking of doing an afternoon ride out to Lake Artemesia, then grilling/pool/movie after. This is all weather dependent, of course, mainly because the projector isn’t waterproof and I don’t want to grill in the rain.
Edit: I think this setup is gonna be awesome

Worst case: The gizmos would get wet and I would probably swear a lot. Also, the GFCI would trip because our electrical system is up to code.
