Ouch! I hope nothing’s broken. I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Two broken bones in my thumb. Talk about an inconvenient appendage to break. Need to find ortho about getting fixed up; am only in a splint at the moment. I’m gonna freak the people out at work tomorrow with my black eye.
Amazingly the bike is fine; I think I broke its fall.
Incredibly the splat popped one of my contacts out. I mentioned it to some cyclists who came to my rescue and one of them found the contact on the ground! I squirted it with water and popped it back in with no difficulties as a result. Amazing.
I then biked to Spokes in Belle Haven with my broken thumb before finally calling it quits and called a friend to rescue me.
Those boardwalks are evil.

You are the second person today I’ve heard from who crashed on the MVT.

Perhaps we should consider body armor?

ParticipantYikes, sorry to here it. I go REAL slow through the troll section.
litigation risk there is for NPS
You cant sue the sovereign. Except. The exception here is the Federal Tort Claim Act. This is what wikipedia says
In the United States, the federal government has sovereign immunity and may not be sued unless it has waived its immunity or consented to suit. The United States has waived sovereign immunity to a limited extent, mainly through the Federal Tort Claims Act, which waives the immunity if a tortious act of a federal employee causes damage, and the Tucker Act, which waives the immunity over claims arising out of contracts to which the federal government is a party.
For more on the Federal Tort Claim Act, see NoLo. It sounds tricky

I’m probably not going to make it tonight since I just got home from a bad wipeout on my bike. I did a spectacular splat on one of the boardwalks near Mt Vernon (covered in algae, very slippery). Now have my first black eye, some road rash (minor), but think I might have broken something in my hand so am heading to urgent care now. Grrrrrr
Goddamn that BOARDWALK TROLL! He almost took me out this morning, underinflated tires! Feel better.

and I just started a new detail at work so I’ll be making a great impression with new co-workers with a black eye.
On the contrary, you are rendering them awestruck and intimidated by your feats of athletic prowess.
Mend fast, Kathy! Hope to see you back out there before long.

Heheheh. I think I should just tell everyone I engage in street fighting in my off time. Now that would earn me some respect!
Unfortunately the troll won this fight but I’m not down and out.
