I might be interested in showing up and meeting some cyclists. Sounds fun.

Actually for a Sunday, I think the 5:00 pm replay makes more sense, since I can make 5, but not 8, that is. ;) Any other opinions?

Concur. I have to take my wife out to MD in the afternoon, but I should be back in time to ride out by 5pm.

Unfortunately, I’m out of town riding roller coasters.

Not sure I am going to make it this afternoon. I got some “Honey do’s”.

I’m probably not going to make it tonight since I just got home from a bad wipeout on my bike. I did a spectacular splat on one of the boardwalks near Mt Vernon (covered in algae, very slippery). Now have my first black eye, some road rash (minor), but think I might have broken something in my hand so am heading to urgent care now. Grrrrrr

Ouch! I hope nothing’s broken. I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Holy Smokes! That’s terrible. I’m horrified. You never crash, and that sounds like a very bad wreck.

You are the second person today I’ve heard from who crashed on the MVT.

Oh Noes! We’re you at the going away party in College Park last night? Laurie said she saw “Kathy” from the BikeArlington forum, but I think I had one of those “didn’t recognize her without her helmet on” moments and didn’t realize. If so, sorry I didn’t say Hi, and sorry for your splat! -Jeff

So sorry to hear of your crash, but glad you’re (mostly) OK. Hopefully nothing is broken!

Yup, it’s official. I broke my thumb; need to see an ortho. At least its not my writing hand. My eye is all swollen but I don’t think anything is serious there. Totally sucks because it means I’m out for a few weeks and I just started a new detail at work so I’ll be making a great impression with new co-workers with a black eye. I hope I only need a cast and not surgery.

Be very careful on the boardwalks in this damp, humid weather. The one that did me in was in heavy brush and covered in algae. I managed to bike to Spokes in Belle Haven after the accident and they said they see a lot of crashes in Sept due to leaves and dew that people aren’t expecting after the summer heat.

    Keep the rubber side down.

Yeah, I was there. Had a nice talk with Jo and Laurie. Yeah, everyone looks different w/o their helmet.

Oh bugs — so sorry to hear! Laurie had a slip down on the wood bridge over Indian Creek a couple weeks back (don’t tell anyone…) No injury other than to her pride, though. They are SO slippery when wet!

    Get well soon.

I sometimes wonder how much litigation risk there is for NPS after so many years of accidents directly attributable to those boardwalks.
