If and when cycling/bike riding is as taken for granted in these United States as vacuuming is, or as bike riding is in the NL or Denmark, I will be unconcerned with the tendency of non-cyclists/nonbike riders/cagers/whathaveyou to identify cycling/bikeriding with racing. ;)

It may be that the equation of cycling = racing (with other words for “non sport” riding) does not get in the way of the cultural shift from where we are, to Copenhagen. I’m not sure though.

None of which means I am against articles about racing, of course.

I heard they dusted the other teams.

Some people think they suck though.

I remember seeing him on the podium at the Pro Cycling Challenge and thinking “who is that lanky, funny looking kid?” But then I saw that he’s a local and started following him a bit more closely. He’s one of the few UCI pros on Strava, and since he trains in Nice I always look at his rides to get ideas for when my wife and I go out there this summer…

I was impressed that he came out and rode some of the Great Pumpkin Ride in Warrenton last October with us peons. He wouldn’t let me pass him. ;)

The headline might’ve been “Racing’s Road Forward” for a bit more accuracy (and added awesome alliteration!) — but other than that, I thought it was a fun sports article and a great use of the online medium.

Then all the NASCAR fans would be up in arms. Being from Charlotte, I can tell you that lots of this country thinks “racing” = NASCAR.

    And that rubbin’ is racin’

I knew a PA redneck in college who swore up and down that NASCAR racing was the purest form of sport. Ummm…. really? Hah!

Fortunately aside from that ridiculous claim he was a pretty smart guy.
