Time for bike lights

On my ride in this morning along FMR and the MVT between 0600 and 0630, nine cyclists passed me heading south. Three of the nine had no front lights and one of the nine had something that emitted virtually no light. Four out of nine is way too many unlit cyclists!

By 0630 it had gotten light enough I stopped counting, but I kept my lights on.

If you don’t have lights on your bike, please get some if you will be riding after dark. Previous threads have offered a number of suggested brands/models.

It’s a new product and hasn’t been released yet. The men’s version is available now, though.

A friend has one and I really like the quality and fit of it. I like that it has a long tail down the back to provide some reflectivity from behind… even when I’m in the drops.

I like it (and I like MEC), but I can’t really justify buying another vest. I’ll have to think of an excuse….

I needed one that I can wear when it is too warm for my Mavic.

I know it is a bit on the pricy side (hell… it wouldn’t be me if I wasn’t finding a more expensive way to do something), but I really like the Mavic Vision line of clothing. Mavic sponsored the TJROW this year and we each got a vest and they are the real deal. Lots of companies put reflective stuff on their clothes and that is good. Mavic went the extra distance and had all of their Vision line certified by German safety standards. They make Jerseys, arm warmers, vests, rain jackets and a winter soft-shell. I think I’m going to be collecting the entire set. The stuff is built to last for sure!

I know the vest of which you speak, and it is covet-able. As anyone who has seen the yellow shoes knows, Mavic stuff definitely gets noticed

I just ordered the jersey and arm warmers that match. It is between seasons and their stock is low, so the jersey is coming from Germany. They only had small and extra small here in the US.

Riding with these in speedometer mode should be required on all the MUPs in the area.:rolleyes:
It’s almost as important as licensing to prove cyclist competency. :rolleyes:

I have seen things like these before – but they are considerably more expensive. Have seen them on the road and they do look hot.
