I saw a group of college students(?) (hipsters?) a couple years ago, with one of the women riding one of those double-tall bikes. There was no way to maintain balance when stopped, so she had to find a van or truck to lean against before she stopped. Not really safe on regular streets. I didn’t watch them long enough to see if the woman eventually tipped over on that bike.

That one does look “stoopid tall” to me and I’m not sure the nation’s biggest group ride, through downtown LA is the best place to ride it, but what do I know? I rode to Baltimore and back behind Ben who was on a somewhat shorter tall bike (I was way behind by the time we got back to College Park, but I got ahead for a moment on the way up to get this picture).

Unlike the guy on the stoopid tallbike and the woman PotomacCyclist saw, Ben can trackstand. He made it look like balancing on a tall bike must be easier than balancing on a regular bike, but I suspect it might not be so.
