“Turn Around!”
Really nice video — kudos to the filming/producer!
I see my commute!
Jamie Kripke shot most of the video and stills. He’s an AMAZING freelance photog from Boulder and my life is much better now that I can call him a friend. I can’t tell you how many hours we spent riding shoulder to shoulder talking about stuff on that trip. Some of the best miles were spent just riding shoulder to shoulder and not talking that much. I had probably a dozen stills and a few minutes of video in there too. He is truly amazing. He rode most of the way with us… shooting stills and video from the road.
Kate Powlison did the production work on most of the movies. I think Jamie helped with day 1. Kate is one of the most versatile people I know. She works for Bikes Belong. She’s half of the duo (along with Damo!) who did all the planning and logistics for TJROW. She rode virtually the whole ride… quite a bit of it while working on the next day’s logistics… in her head on the bike, on the phone when we stopped. Her talents were obvious in the videos that she produced. She is a tough-as-nails cyclist. She is one of 6 women that rode the entire Tour de France this year one day ahead of the race. Her intensity is amazing. When she rides, she has this amazing focus… her mind completely set on task… when you break her out of reverie, she hits you with this HUGE smile.
This ride was truly something special, as were the people who did it. There are people that I’ve known in other contexts for many years that I couldn’t talk to their character the way I just did with Kate and Jamie…. yet I can do so easily with virtually all of the people I rode with for 5 days last March.
