As someone who goes through here every time the light at Scott St. is red, I would have to say that there is insufficient car traffic to justify bike lanes or sharrow treatment. Riding on it is just like riding on a low traffic residential street.

Where would the bike lanes go?

My commute takes me down Veitch’s bike lane to cross Lee and pick up the Custis Trail there. Are you talking about lanes on Vietch/21st St on the other side of Lee?

    Yes, North of Lee.

I occasionally climb the Veitch access from the Custis Trail heading to Courthouse. I have more issues dealing with cars exiting the apartment complex parking lot there than with cars on the short stretch of Veitch/21st. Also, I’ve only headed north there once or twice.

In terms of cycling/pedestrian improvements, I think it would depend on what the developement plans are. Bergmans does not generate a lot of auto traffic, so if it is being replaced with a higher traffic use, then such improvements should be considered. Veitch south of Lee Highway has bike lanes as does Scott. It would be reasonable to have those lanes continue on the connection between them.
