ParticipantGlad they finally fixed it. I’ve been calling every other day for 3 weeks.

ParticipantIt was doubly bad a week ago when they were sealing asphalt in the Mason parking lot with a giant blow torch. Sometimes you see Darwinism in motion, other times it smacks you right in your face with its awesomely opposable thumbs.

1) I’m excited to have not been blown up by the gas leak on the W&OD by Falls Church. 😮
Holy crap, I kept wondering if I was going mad and was the only one smelling it, then I thought to myself…. “there is a firehouse right here, it can’t be an undetected gas leak”. WRONG!

ParticipantWhen you smell stuff like that, call the gas company!!!! Like in this instance, it sometimes takes them a while to respond, but at least it eventually gets fixed. I think they move faster when lots of people call.

ParticipantOne day, back on my old commute (*sniff*) I smelled a gas leak in Arlington National Cemetery. I reported it to the public safety guy at the bottom of the hill. On my way home, I asked the Fort Myer guards about it, and apparently there had been quite a response. And it was fixed by the next morning. Hooray.

I had smelled it for a couple of days, and about two weeks ago stopped by that FCC fire station to report it and was told they new about it and the gas company was working on the repair. That was shortly after the new pavement patch on Little Falls St by the Masonic Temple appeared.

My neighbor’s meter was leaking and they (Washington Gas) were there in maybe 20 minutes. Several vehicles with flashy lights and whatnot. Apparently it’s a big deal if there’s gas leaking…?

If they have to first find the leak and then dig an enormous hole it takes longer.
