Participantthe last Kill BIll ride, I was riding toward the end of the pack, making small talk. As we turned from Rockingham St on to Massachusetts Ave, I noticed someon with a dropped chain, so I slowed down. It was Boomer! We didn’t lose much time, but lost sight of the pack as they made a hard right turn down Virginia Ave. (maybe a wrong turn, since everyone stopped and came back up, but only after we had gone left) We made out way back to Williamsburg and Westmoreland where we caught up with the pack again. All in all only about ten minutes, but on a ride like that, a few seconds can cook you for the day. It was nice to ride with Boomer. He has a great spirit and made me feel like I had done my good deed for the week by hanging with him and getting us back to the group.
Best of Luck Boomer!

Oh NO! That’s too too sad… I was hoping to get to ride with him one last time before he took off. (T-T)
But okay, Boomer stories!
Last year he was a ride marshal for 50 States and I glommed on to his group–opting this year to stick with a group for the duration in hopes of not getting lost. It was largely good times… except for the fact that Boomer (and a few of his fellow marshals) played it fast and loose with the “Don’t run red lights” rule. They’d charge through late yellows (or even “pinks”) leaving their slower charges behind at the light. These quickly became known as “DAMNIT BOOMER!!!” moments. These were numerous over the course of the wild and rainy ride, but we all survived… somehow. :pMay 20, 2016 at 11:32 pm #1052469Boomer Cycles

I would not have finished that ride had you not escorted me out of that bottomless pit. I had no idea of the route, nor the whereabouts of the pack. Your bike marshalling service was exemplary. Thank you.

That was my last century on US soil for awhile. When are you returning to Europe?

ParticipantThis is what greeted me when I checked into my AirBnB, above a yoga and meditation center, in my new home town of Bristol, in southwest England. I take it as a sign that more biking and stretching may be in my future.
