Third Thirsty Thursday – The Sequel

August is a bit off with the 1st falling on a Thursday – are people thinking the 15th (true third) or 22nd (more like 3/4 of the way through the month)?

I’m hesitant to commit to helping plan because I may have travel in the middle of August, but if I’m around I’ll aim to show up (especially in the Arlington/Crystal City/Alexandria area)

I was thinking of hosting a happy hour on Aug 15th at the green turtle in Fairfax City. They have a good outdoor seating area, which they share with a Thai restaurant, an Indian restaurant and a wine bar, so a little bit for everyone. I’m thinking we could start around 5, and roll home whenever. I will post directions once I call them and see about reserving an area.

Would anyone be up for a separate happy hour in Shirlington on August 22? There’s no rule that says there can’t be two happy hours in one month or a Fairfax one and an Arlington one.

That sounds like a good idea to me, since I will be out of town on August 15.

I like the idea of 2 third Thursdays – One on the 3rd thursday (the 15th in Fairfax) and one on the second to last Thursday(22nd in Shirlington). Most months they would coincide, but in August it’s kind of like a blue moon, very special. I would call the one on the 22nd the 4rd Thursday Happy Hour!

If we’re going to do two, shouldn’t one be more central?

Not that I have a horse in the race — we’re out of town on the 15th, and I’ll still have two little ones on the 22nd. Hopefully.

Ah Cradle Mtn, a great scene for the postcards but foggy and cloudy when you go yourself… at least in my singular experience.

Back on topic, I may or may not be able to make it depending on others’ plans so I can’t commit yet. The idea of Indian food is appealing to me though!

Not a bad point. I can’t speak for the 22nd (I think Arlingtonrider was puting that one together). I was going to call Green Turtle (FFX) today to see about the out door seating, so let me know if we dont’ want to do it way out here.

There could be a centrally-located one and a different location, on a separate week. That would give people the option to go to one, the other, or both. Or in my case, probably neither (since I always seem to miss these).
