ParticipantI like Linux because I actually hate operating systems. Windows and Apple OS prance around yelling “Look at me, I’m an operating system, I poop rainbows!”. Crunchbang just shuts up and gets out of the way so I can actually do what I want. Sometimes I hate gears and adjustments and fancy brakes and that’s why I think of fixed gears as like Linux. But I get your point.

You forgot the extraneous ‘e’ in ‘Hains’.

I can’t do that, but I could mansplain how to grill a nice hunk of wild Atlantic salmon.

That was a pretty feeble attempt to bring this thread back on topic. Or are you hitting on my wife?

If I wanted to hit on your wife, I’d use sexy talk about computer operating systems, not boring, unappealing things like delicious, expertly prepared gourmet salmon.

ParticipantSalmon, we don’t need no stinkin’ salmon – we have this! I want to thank you all for the most entertaining thread.

I don’t think either would work. And I’ve learned that talking about bikes isn’t much of a turn-on for her either, sadly.

Well, then, I’m not interested anyway.
Excuse me while I cook my wife some salmon, if you know what I mean.

ParticipantI know you will all hate me for re-hijacking the thread back to bicycling.
Long before rationalizing the curb cuts by Jefferson, the approach to the 14th St. bridge needs to be fixed. Is there any sort of a plan to widen it, flatten it and get rid of the poles that are in the way? This century?October 4, 2014 at 11:17 am #1011428cyclingfool

I thought it was well established that this thread was for fish you prefer Linux OSes.
Seriously, though, there are plans to deal with that area. I don’t know how far along any of this is at this point. I don’t have my finger on the pulse of this as much as I used to, but maybe someone else knows more details. dbb?
I can share this little nugget, from a May Washcycle post.
2. On the DC side of the 14th Street Bridges there is a grant already approved to deal with “the pole.” If you bike across the George Mason Bridge, you know what I’m talking about. Apparently moving this pole away from the trail to remove a pinchpoint is not easy, but work will begin soon to deal with this. Another grant will widen the trail in the area and make improvements along East Basin Drive (the road in front of the Lincoln Memorial).
IOW, something’s being done. I can’t say whether or not it’ll be @Steve O 96152 wrote:

I think a version or two of Ubuntu might be.

ParticipantGiven his apparent ability to overcook fish (see earlier in thread) I propose that baiskeli’s Linux OS distro name should be Sear Salmon in the great alliterative wildlife tradition of Ubuntu version names.

ParticipantI found this:

Takes about a minute to load and may cause dizziness for some viewers.
