ParticipantRode over this morning for the 7 am shift. Walked 5 dogs, including Linus and Sally, they’re new to the shelter and apparently brother and sister and are hilarious. I walked them together because they were in the same kennel and I didn’t want to separate them; lol.
Chloe (again [emoji1])
GENE!
And Bear

I love that sunyata added this. And the best part is that it will encourage ongoing support of the rescue for the other 9 months of the year

ParticipantFor those heading out for Team 8’s Booze ride in Falls Church on Saturday… The Lost Dog shelter is a VERY short distance away from the Falls Church Distillery and Audacious Aleworks. You guys should stop in for some puppy snuggles!

There is an upstairs? I’m still learning my way around. But speaking of puppies … how about Linus and Sally?

ParticipantI’ve seen people coming down from upstairs with the puppies, but I dare not venture there.
Linus and Sally are cute, but I gotta say I love Chloe every time I see her. Haven’t walked her yet because she has already been walked every time.
I actually look forward to the end of freezing saddles, where I can walk the doggos in daylight (possibly in warmth?) without feeling the need to record it.

ParticipantThis is off-topic. Is it common for people to walk dogs at kennels? There is a combination kennel and veterinary hospital just north of the W&OD trail where the water fountain is east of the US15 bypass. I have often see people walking dogs there on the trail.

Kennels will frequently include taking your dog for a walk as part of the service if the don’t have a place for them to run around outside.

ParticipantValerie & I have signed up for dog walking Thursday evening – though I doubt I’ll be able to convince her to bike there.

ParticipantRode over and walked two doggies yesterday. Got there a bit late and that, combined with the nicer weather, meant there wasn’t as much need, plus there was a list of about a dozen dogs that had been adopted, with several more in foster care. Yay!
Nala:

Teddy:

Nala is one of those dogs who is sweet with people but wants to fight all the other dogs. She acted more like a boy dog what with all the marking and wanting to snarl and fight and whatnot. Teddy has been there a while—I walked him on January 4th–and he still has gut problems and his ribs are still showing. He needs his forever home soon.

Belly rubs are their own reward.

ParticipantRode over this morning at 7 am for some walks. A lot of the dogs were in different spots because of some work they were doing on the back rows of kennels, but I found:
Dagny
Penny
And Bologna [emoji7]
