    #BAFS2019LostDog

The pointless prize with a point.

Due to circumstances beyond their control (mostly related to the fact that 2018 was the year of the mud in one form or another), there is an influx of rescue dogs in residence at the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue kennel in Falls Church. Most of these dogs are relatively young and have lots of energy that need to be expended. This is where you fine freezing folks come in.

So, get on your bike, ride to the kennel and walk some dogs (or if that is not your thing, play with some cats or clean some cages/kennels)!

Team Bikenetic (and friends) tend to volunteer on Thursday evenings, if you want to ensure you have some company for your first trip out to the Kennel. Bob (rcannon) and I will set up a couple of orientation times over the next few weeks if Thursday does not work for you, but you are not required to go to one of those.

    Shelter Location:
    6801 Wilson Blvd
    Falls Church, VA 22044
It is directly behind Eden Center & must be accessed by the smaller entrance to Eden Center off of Wilson Blvd (entrance with no arch, smaller concrete lions, right next to Arlington Motors sign). Once you turn into Eden Center, immediately turn left. Follow road to a large gray building with yellow awnings. Park in the little lot by the building, but not at the building across the street, if you are driving. Bikes are welcome in the lobby, if needed.

@Sunyata, My wife and I occasionally foster dogs from Lost Dog. Any points for that?

YES! How about 250 points for fostering? Add an additional 1000 points if the dog/cat ends up being a foster failure. ;)

How many points for walking dogs you already rescued?

Seriously, though, I love this pointless prize. Not going to win, but I’ll try to make an early riser walk + commute a weekly thing.

Leaderboard appears to be blank. When tagging, does it need to be in the title of the ride instead of just the description?

Looks like the hashtag needs to be in the ride’s name, not description (source).

rcannon100, your points come from Darby alone.

Thx Josh. I will include in title from now on.

FYI, it appears that ObscureRichard is using #FS2019LostDog, whereas Sunyata is using #BAFS2019LostDog.

No matter to me; I’m just in it to see happy doggies.

That one looks empty, as well (using the generic hashtag leaderboard generator at https://freezingsaddles.org/pointless/hashtag/BAFS2019LostDog)

Note – per the information on that page, hashtags are case-sensitive.

Sounds fair to me! Now we just find a good foster. Our pooch is a bit picky about who he shares a house.

FYI – The hashtag leaderboard will only show the leader of the most rides to the rescue. The actual points leaderboard is here:
    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1roXcX_czSacfxLCh1JTEllqcD6yym4CgAXdylsxJpu4/edit#gid=1147479350

And if you do not post about it here on the forum, your points do not get counted. As much as being psychic would be helpful in my daily life, unfortunately, I am not blessed with such a gift. ;)

How many points for transporting dogs back from the vet?

Oh, did I mention that Lost Dog Rescue’s vet is out in Purceville…. you know, right next to the starting / ending point of Pete Beer’s Friday Hooky rides
    https://www.facebook.com/events/404039537003712/

And if you transport a dog back to Falls Church, arguably your trip is a contribution to Lost Dog and tax deductible to the full extent of somebody’s law?

Any bonus points for taking a dog to the vet by bike?
