ParticipantI walked dogs last night. I demand points!

Last night was crazy. There was one fixie cyclists. Not sure if he was a Freezer. I am on furlough. So any time you want to be oriented, let me know. Its very easy to drop in once you understand the system. And it is so important to get these dogs some quality fun time.

The fixie was mine. I never ran into you, I don’t think. But I did walk three doggos, which I will post as soon as I get the pics transferred.

Hi Darby! Hopefully he is feeling better.

ParticipantRode to the place and walked three nice doggies last night. Took pics, but while all three dogs listened to me pretty well on the walks, none was interested in getting their noses off the ground long enough for a face shot. I don’t blame them, being cooped up all day, unable to use their noses for their intended purpose. So the pics are lousy (especially considering it was getting dark out), but count yourself lucky I didn’t do any selfies or they’d have been lousier.

Grey [head not pictured]:

Prissy was a real sweetheart who predictably filled me with sads since I couldn’t take her home. She was the one for me right away, watching my every move each time I walked by, even after I had already walked her. Teddy was labeled as a leash puller, but really, he was no problem except for peeing in the vestibule rather than waiting to get outside. His ribs were showing so I gave him extra treats. Grey was a sweetie too, but he has gut problems, isn’t allowed treats, and messily used up all the bags I had. Everyone knew Grey by name, even some volunteers who were just stopping by, and he had definite ideas about where he wanted to go (i.e., *all* the way around the Eden Center). I think all three had been there a while because they were happy enough to go back to their cages and all knew exactly which cage was theirs without any direction from me.

Participant@Sunyata, My wife and I occasionally foster dogs from Lost Dog. Any points for that?

ParticipantI don’t expect points for it, but want to post it here. Last night riding home on the 4MRT, in the (currently) narrow spot near the construction west of Mount Vernon Ave, I was about to pass a runner (I had called my pass). She suddenly shouted “rabbit!” and I braked hard. Turned out it was not a rabbit, but a very fluffy cat, which she picked up. I thanked her for her save, and rode on.

I’d file that under close calls and incidents or, possibly, missed connections. Unless you’re SteveO of course; do we have thread for lost opportunities to run over living things?

That fluffy cat lives nearby. The cat is exceedingly friendly and unafraid, walks along with her owner almost like a dog, and will approach people.

There should be a thread for close calls with or missed opportunities to avoid Steve O.
