CCBID gives out front blinkies with their own logo on them.
Good to know – I just hope they stock the machine with them so I don’t have to wait till the light give-away events.

ParticipantMy favorite thread of the month. I don’t usually need to get bike accessories mid-ride, but it’s nice to know that all of this will be available at the park just in case.

KeymasterWe’re glad everyone is excited about this. We are, too, though we have to admit we’re scrambling a bit as both CCBID and we were told it wouldn’t arrive until Sept. Anyway, we hope to have it up and running in the next few days. I’d especially like to thank the good folks at the CCBID for initiating this partnership. Yet another positive for cycling in Arlington/DC.

How does Bikenetic get away with their sign on the W&OD? I know its NVRPA instead of NPS, but perhaps the same contractual mechanisms could be applied?
Completely different jurisdictions. NPS (per Congress) specifically limits commercial activity, Virginia permits sponsorship and informational signage. (There are several signed shops, not just bikenetic.)

So the next question is where exactly the MVT (and NPS oversight) ends if you’re taking the Crystal City access path. If the turn-off from the main MVT is no longer NPS, then a large enough sign might work. But if the MVT extends all the way to or past the tunnel, then it would be more difficult.
Is any of that land MWAA controlled?

ParticipantWe might be able to use the trail counter between the RR tunnel and the underpass as a guide. Let me ask ArCo who they coordinated with on the install of the counter.

There was a thread several weeks ago where I asked what people would want (We’re not doing donuts). Obviously we’ll stock what people want/need to buy. It will be the most common tube sizes and elementary tools at first. We’ll branch out and experiment as time goes on. If you have suggestions, post them here or shoot me an email: henry@phoenixbikes.org. Thanks.

Alas, the connector seems to belong to the NPS as well. The boundary appears to be at (near) the RR tunnel.

I don’t know that area as well as some of you: is there an opportunity to put a sign on ArlCo property that could be seen from the MVT?

Hang a giant banner from one of the buildings facing the river?

I was in the middle of doing a mockup of exactly this idea (had my screen grab of the buildings and was going all MSPaint on it with a big “Fixation This Way” Arrow sign about 300 ft tall. Then I came back and Shawn beat me to it.
