I’m sorry my dear kwark…last time I described your donut as vile…but this one looks downright nauseating. The duck, however, is very cute.
Sad that you don’t appreciate true donut art. The luscious bacon atop the luxurious maple frosted donut with lascivious caramel drizzle was the epitome of ecstasy. Oh have mercy!!!!!

ParticipantDouble points today on the coffee-coffee-doughnut-doughnut-team-14-infiltration ride.
At Duck Donuts in Herndon I had a maple-frosted, peanut doughnut, warm from the doughnuterator
(shown here with sock)
At Astro Doughnuts in Falls Church I had the creme brule doughnut
(shown here with Judd’s football doughnut)

ParticipantDoughneurerers, and Team 4,
We will circumnavigate the District of Columbia to experience doughnut nirvana on Saturday, February 11th. Weather prediction is favorable. Exact details coming soon, but Save The Date.
We will start at 202 Doughnuts in Bethesda really early, like 9:00 Saturday. Then head down the CCT to the Cady Alley District Doughnuts (estimated time to be provided for those joining here) and then cross into Virginia via Key Bridge to hit the Arlington Sugar Shack (time tbd) and then head to the G Street Astros Doughnuts (time tbd) (No Hains Point Laps will be tolerated) followed by a cross town ride –maybe another District Doughnuts before hitting the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail. ART up to Hyattsville — still negotiating with Shortcake for a Doughneuring-qualifying pastry just for us! Then Northwest Branch Trail and the Sligo Creek Trail around to Silver Spring with the end point at the Dunkin Doughnuts at the SS Metro Station.
Estimated times to be calculated and posted here for those wishing to join as we circumnavigate. Watch this thread! Save the date, plan now for this Doughneuing Extravaganza. Potential for Bonus Points abound. Doughneurers only, and all of Team 4, and any friends you invite.See you Saturday! e
P.S. Donut forget a lock for you bike!

ParticipantThanks to Ricky for this map of the route: https://goo.gl/maps/g1jWwuj5DHv
This will be a No-Drop Ride, we will enjoy a leisurely and social pace!
Route subject to slight variations to account for road conditions, detours to more doughnut shops or bakeries… For Doughnuts only!Approximate times will be posted, but they will be best guesses, for those planning to join at any point after the start. All Doughneurers who RSVP can private message me to exchange mobile phone numbers, I will text out the groupo’s progress for your meeting plans along the route.
Anyone can join at any doughnut stop for a social with the riders, riding along does not preclude making each stop a separate FS Social Butterfly event.
I will take a Group Sock Photo at some point, do wear your favorites!

ParticipantAs a preview to the extravaganza this weekend, I hit Sugar Shack in Arlington on Sun. Who knew there was a Columbia Heights there! There is even a Massachusetts Ave in Viriginia. Played it safe and had the raspberry and the chocolate donuts. The girl scout Samoa one looked really tempting though.
Also stopped at Sticky Fingers, a vegan bakery in the other Columbia Heights, on the way in to work today. The stars aligned as they only have donuts on Tue and Thurs. Got the snickers, blueberry with lemon filling, and a strawberry cheesecake to share. Particularly liked the snickers. Vegan and good don’t always go together but these were all good!

I’m in. I’m planning on doing the full on doughnut ride. I will of course talk the entire time about how awesome it is to ride doughnuts around Hains Point.

ParticipantIt felt like a good day to have a doughnut for breakfast at the end of my bike commute. Second stop at An Uncommon Cafe at 1800 G St NW.
I am suspicious where these doughnuts come from. An Uncommon Cafe is a food by the pound type of place. These doughnuts don’t appear to be made in house, but they are also not good. Somewhere there must be some bakery in DC churning out mediocre doughnuts.

Wow, that’s a lot of donut stops. I assume no one will take it ill if some riders “do not” consume a “donut” at each location? (note, if I can make it I would likely join at Sugar Shack in Arlington)

Make sure someone vets it first. Lawd knows we need a little more vetting nowadays
I also made it in RideWithGPS so you can download it to your GPS, but I don’t know all the sections and what’s good to ride and what’s a death trap (esp in Arlington). If someone wants to look at it and give me suggestions on how to clean it up, please feel free!

I’m not sure if this will work, but here is the TCX download: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/18908274.tcxMy plans are in flux, but since this is our team’s event (huzzah, Fourmidable Snow Flakes!), I’ll definitely meet y’all somewhere along the route, either at District or Astros. What’s the earliest you’d get to District Donuts or Astros? I’ll be sleeping on the C&O the night before (Horsepen Branch Campsite), then biking down, most likely draggin’

Where will we find a rider/hero to go check each bakery in DC to find the offender?

I live in the ‘hood near Sugar Shack. You don’t want to turn left from Columbia Pike onto Glebe Road. Even though there is a traffic light, very busy intersection and will be dangerous to move a group into the left turn lane. My suggested alternative after you’ve made the turn onto South Fillmore Street:
– Turn right on 6th Street South
– Turn left on Glebe Road (traffic light)
– Take Glebe Road across Columbia Pike and Sugar Shack will be on your rightAnd I would suggest this for leaving Sugar Shack (easier/safer than the way you’re currently routed):
– Go down Glebe Road the same direction you were going before, i.e., south
– Turn right on 11th Street South (your first right and basically at the corner of the building where Sugar Shack is)
– Turn right on South Monroe Street
– Turn right onto Columbia Pike (traffic light)Columbia Pike won’t be as busy/have as much traffic as it does on a weekday, but still be careful getting into the left turn lane to turn left onto South Orme.
Hope this helps.

Fixed. Thanks! Any other changes anyone? Just let me know and I’ll tweak the map.

ParticipantAnother stop at a Hinnerbäcker, this time in Rodheim vor der Höhe and they had Apfel Donuts, but I opted for a Schokolade Croissant with my Kaffee Creme.

Doughneurers,
Even I will admit that consuming 6 or more doughnuts on the course of a 40-mile ride might be too much of a good thing.
We will divide and conquer like this: buddy up or group up on the purchases of doughnuts, and I will be armed with a bunch
of knives so we can divide the doughnuts into tasting bites. This way everyone can taste more than one delightful variety at
each stop, but overall consume far fewer doughnuts–if you eat a half a doughnut, or less, at each stop, you should be able to ride without
digestive disorder syndrome.Sharing is nice. You can always buy a whole one to pedal home with you if you really like the doughnuts.
Oh, it is perfectly acceptable to skip the consuming part at some of the stops. This is also a reconnaissance ride for everyone to discover
where the doughnuts are.Kate
