ParticipantCatching up on last weekend’s donut. Lots of comments on the appearance of this one in my Strava feed but despite the looks, it was quite tasty: Mango Mojito donut from Astro Donuts and Fried Chicken.

Sorry, but that looks absolutely vile. You are brave.

ParticipantToday’s doughneuring fail: a mini key lime pie at Buzz Bakery plus shortbread mittens.

So thoughtful of them to provide toys for buzzed/baked customers. Looks like an easy place to overdo it.
No such fun for me today. But, I did get a chocolate hazelnut donut and a coffee at Paul in Bethesda. That place is dangerously placed right at the Bethesda end of the CCT to tempt tired trail runners & riders. The donut was OK but not especially fresh — I may have been too late in the day. Still, it disappeared quickly.

ParticipantUnlike the last donut disaster, I gobbled this one up! Bacon (need I say more?) and maple glaze at the Sugar Shack in Arlington. It tasted even better after the climb up Walter Reed and Quincy!

ParticipantStopped by Breadfurst. Didn’t realize they had donuts so I picked up one of their chocolate gazed donut. Delicious if you like the doughy kind. It may be breadfurst but donutsecond!

ParticipantMy Doughneuring fail from 2/5. Stopped at a Hinnerbäcker in Ober-Eschbach shortly before they closed at noon. No qualifying pastries were available, so I bought a complete Apfelkuchenstrüßel, at 1/4 of it and then carried the other 3/4 in my jacket pocket for another 23 miles.

ParticipantToday’s donut is, in fact, a donut, with maple [emoji260], bacon 🥓, and caramel drizzle. Can you say yummy? Now I need a ciggie and a cuddle.

I’m sorry my dear kwark…last time I described your donut as vile…but this one looks downright nauseating. The duck, however, is very cute.

All the cool people don’t eat meat.

ParticipantI instigated some group double doughneuring today after infiltrating Team 14’s meet up at Cafe Amouri.
First stop was Duck Donuts in Herndon where I had a warm doughnut glazed with chocolate with rainbow sprinkles. I was too busy enjoying my doughnut for a group picture but HF, Sarah Bee, Chris, Bob James, LeprosyStudyGroup, Andy, Karen, Bob Cochran and Steve O joined. I taught Steve O how to order a doughnut.
A few brave souls were willing to accept the challenge to double doughnut. HF, Sarah Bee, LeprosyStudyGroup, Steve O and I went to Astro Doughnuts in Falls Church. In honor of the Super Bowl I got a football Boston Creme doughnut.

ParticipantI went to Beard Papa’s in Falls Church with Komorebi on Saturday, February 4th for some doughneuring. I had a very yummy eclair and discovered that there is no way to eat an eclair that does not involve an explosion of filling. Many napkins were used. The Beard Papa’s logo is also super cute.

ParticipantYesterday was a double doughneuring day. I’ve been struggling with my participation in Freezing Saddles this year. I’m an incredibly competitive person and not being able to win every competition stresses me out. It’s ridiculous, I know. To drown my sorrows I ended the Beard Papa’s ride with a mediocre chocolate glazed doughnut from the Whole Foods on Duke Street in Alexandria. The eat I can say about it was that it was a doughnut. I could maybe also say that I thought the lighting for this doughnut picture was kind of sexy.

ParticipantIn January 25th, 2017, I conducted a daring raid on the 7-11 at 514 19th St NW in DC to liberate a long John from the notorious surly-al-cashier terrorist group. I was in my way to work, when I received the below proof of life picture along with a demand for a hefty ransom. After a successful raid, I liberated this doughnut and enjoyed it’s custard filled deliciousness.
