Another ride to Saalburg hoping for some snow to ride on, but no luck. On the way back down I stopped at Der Bäcker Eifler in Oberursel (the third time I’ve been there since last August) and had a Schokolade Croissant with my Kaffee Creme. This version was full of a softer (not melted) version of chocolate and both ends were dipped in chocolate.

It seems you may have gotten an extraordinarily rare photo of wheels&wings utilizing the saddle on her bicycle.

Wandered past the Westover Farmers Market this morning, which resulted in a small order of red velvet donut bites.

I brought them home to share with my daughter (fingers visible in upper left). She’s a big red velvet fan – donut, cupcake, whatever.

Haha, could be. I was worried about Ricky – wondering why he’d stopped on the bridge even tho he’d said he was okay. So at that point I was looking for him…awesome picture!!

Btw, if anyone hasn’t seen Ricky’s tricks on the bike…like riding up and down steep stairs and track-standing forever….HOLY SMOKES…the guy is amazing. w&w

I saw w&w sit on this ride. I would have taken a picture but I didn’t want to have to explain to all the new friends on the ride why I was taking a picture of her backside.

Are donuts better with coffee? Yes, but I pretty much hit my limit (really) earlier at Coffeechamps . . and it was 80-something degrees outside. So just Little Lucy’s (Dog-themed!) Mini Donuts, fresh from the fryer, buried in pistachio/lavender/vanilla sugar.

    They call it a Schnauzer.*

*If they’d had a Husky, I would have gotten two bags. Not sure if I’m joking, even.

Great meeting everyone on Sat! I was a bit worried joining in the middle that I would miss everyone at Astro but it was hard to miss the big group of doughneurers. Here’s a photo of some us ordering donuts at stop #5.

And our bonus donuts from college park. Unfortunately I didn’t get a shot of a munchkin in flight.

And our free cookies at the last stop at Tiramisu.

My donuts for the extravaganza ride included a brownie batter and a blueberry glaze at Dunkin donuts. I liked the brownie batter particularly with the melted chocolate in the middle.

A mocha cake as substitute for gelato at Tiramisu.

Finally a stop at Beard Papa’s in Georgetown on the way home. I had never heard of the chain until Kate mentioned it. They have a churros donut called the Paris Brest that you can get with a cream puff filling.

Probably not as many as many of you that did the whole ride. Saving some room for the next one!

Opps forgot to add the photo from Beard Papa’s. It doesn’t quite look like a beard.

Some other recent donut stops. Was at Right Proper Brewing the other day and saw they had donuts. Attempted to do both beerneuring and doughneuring by ordering both at the same time! They have an apple cinnamon donut. Was surprised to find slices of apple inside. It seemed more like a frybread or flambé.

Also stopped by the District Donut on Capitol Hill today and ran into Karen and her group. A taste off ensued. I got the peppermint patty and brown butter. Not sure which one they liked but I really liked the airiness of the brown butter.

Kate, thanks so much for organizing and leading the doughnut ride. I had a great time riding to new places, meeting new friends and of course eating doughnuts (hopefully new).

    My Devoted Followers!

You were amazing! What a wonderful day to pedal around DC and seek out lucious doughnuts. It was delightful to meet all of you, and to enjoy the company of my awesome Snowflake Teammates, too. I think we really did ourselves proud, I have no idea how many doughnuts were consumed, but I am sure it was a lot! Big Kudos to Millie for providing the Pop-Up Doughnut Stand just when we needed it most!

So, what do you say? Let’s do it again! Doughneuring Extravaganza II, Virginia Edition is being planned as I type! Save the date, I am thinking March 11th–to be confirmed as the weather prediction is more reliable. You can speculate about what additional Pointless Prize opportunity will be worked into this Ride.

OH! I totally forgot to mention that Hains Point will be featured on this ride! A least one lap, maybe two doughnuts around the river.

    Yours in Doughnut Solidarity, e

Don’t think we were to blame but the Dunkin donuts next to my work ran out of donuts today. Oh no, what is everyone going to do…
