Do you like Doughnuts? Who doesn’t?!

    The Doughneuring Challenge starts now!

    The Rules:
    1. Ride your bike to a Doughnut Shop. Also acceptable– bakery, pastry shop, Konditerei, tea room or other purveyor of fine doughnuts.
    2. Choose one doughnut from the selection.
    3. Take a picture of the doughnut.
    4. BITE into that doughnut!
    5. Post on this thread that picture, location, and a description of the sweet deliciousness.

    The Points:
    1. Ten (10) points will be awarded for each unique doughnut location visited with a doughnut review and photo.
    2. One (1) point will be awarded for each unique doughnut per location.
    3. Five (5) points will be awarded for one repeat visit to a doughnut shop with an additional unique doughnut review.

The rider with the most points at the end of FS17 wins a special prize.

Some Clarifications and the Slippery Slope

No Bagels. Is a bagel a doughnut? No, it is not!
No pies. No cookies. No scones.
    Absolutely No Cupcakes!

However, the following sweet treats will be given consideration for points if the rider submits a compelling description and is able to sway the judges:
    Aepfelskivers
    Churros
    Danish
    Bear Claws
    Beaver Tails
    Kringle
    Koing Amman
    Chocolate Croissant
    Cronuts or similar.

Finally, the Sorriest Doughnut Doughneuring Prize will be awarded to the rider who submits the sorriest doughnut entry including packaged, processed, or vending machine doughnuts, such as any Hostess or Little Debbie doughnut product. Similar entries will be judged by the description of the product.

You know what goes well with donuts?

    Coffee.

Lots of really lousy black coffee that somehow magically becomes perfect and wonderful when there’s a donut.

    Just a thought.

Well, I tried today, but the Cafe del Castillo didn’t have any qualifying pastries.

That is an Excellent thought! Pedal forth; I hope you can enjoy a fine roasted coffee and a fresh doughnut! But it is true, a nice doughnut can cover the sin of lousy coffee and make the winter ride worthwhile. e

It’s true! Scored my first doughneuring points today at Sugar Shack with a cup of coffee. I had a doughnut with Oreo crumbles. Nom nom. Delicious.

That is… allowed when you are putting in 200-mile weeks.

You are only required to taste each doughnut, enough to evaluate the flavor, texture, deliciousness, …then apply the willpower to stop taking bites. Or just ride the long way home, like the rest of us!

This was too much deliciousness for my willpower:

Doughneering # 1, at Sugar Shack in Alexandria, with a chocolate cake doughnut. I like cake doughnuts, and I like chocolate, but I often find chocolate cake doughnuts disappointing — not enough chocolate flavor, or the frosting isn’t right, or the texture doesn’t work. This was an excellent chocolate cake doughnut in all respects.

    BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!

Cycling is the worst way to lose weight ever. You pretty quickly find all the best ice cream, pastry, sandwich, and beer places, and make excuses to visit them. Lord Deliver Us from Cross Street Market, but no further than the Light Street Cafe.

Doughneuring #1 – A donut bunt at Hinnerbäker in Oberursel on my way back to Frankfurt after climbing Großser Feldberg. Not a cake or yeast doughnut, but something in between that had been dipped in chocolate.
