The one Twitter response was equally pretty epic–
“I got a kick out of @UKinUSA’s White House tweet. Looking forward to @GermanEmbassy dropping firecrackers on a London-shaped cake in 2140.”

I’ll vote for Dickie as our Captain if he is buying at the pub. No warm beer please.

I think we’re good at co-opting other country’s holidays to serve as drinking holidays stateside… Mardis Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Okotoberfest. But you’re right, there is room to grow!

Plus the music for the Star-Spangled Banner was originally part of a song called “To Anacreon in Heaven,” which seems to have been a drinking song and the official song of a gentlemen’s club of amateur musicians in London.

So has the secret of the monthly happy hours been revealed? That it’s not really a social gathering of area cyclists, but rather, training sessions for the future defense of Washington D.C. (and Arlington) against a British invasion?
