ParticipantThis is a *fantastic* idea. I’ve already got a ride commitment on Sunday, but I might have to see about that. In any event, I hope you can share your cue sheet/GPS track afterwards.

ParticipantWe do the 50 states ride as a karaoke event. I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to do this as one too.
I too have a ride planned, but might have to ditch it for this.

ParticipantSounds like an interesting concept. Will have to look at my commitments and post back on Saturday, or maybe see you at the WABA ride. How do we recognize you (if you are willing to share over a public forum)?

ParticipantFor the WABA saturday ride I’ll be a bike marshal on a red specialized sirrus. I might talk to Dan the bike ambassador and see if he’ll let me toss out a few words about the embassy ride. Embassy route is done I’m just formatting it and finishing the google map. I’ll post it by tonight!

ParticipantI’m in. I’ll be downtown working that morning and afternoon. I might have to cut out in the middle depending on the timing of things. Can you post or send the cue sheet so I can enter it in my GPS? Makes the Nav a little easier.
Thanks! See you at 0800 at the Canadian Embassy.

ParticipantOkay I’m finally finished!! It took a lot longer than I expected but I’ve got an accurate as I can get cue sheet. It looks to be just about 35 miles long.
The route basically looks like a big spiral that starts at the Canadian Embassy and heads north, then curves left at the north tip of DC looping back down to the river and then back up into embassy row ending next to the naval observatory. The route does a lot of small loops in the crowded areas in order to follow one-way streets and still pass by all of the embassies. You’ll also see several U-turns where there was just no good direction to go without going out of the way. I couldn’t get Google to cooperate with me too well so I haven’t been able to show the route on a map but here is a link to the map I made of embassy locations. I’ll try to make a better map if I can.

ParticipantI’m finally finished!! It took a lot longer than I expected but here is the most accurate cue sheet I could make.
I couldn’t get google to cooperate so I don’t have a map with the route. Here is the map I made of the embassy locations. I’ll see if I can get something better out later.
The route is basically a big spiral that starts at the Canada Embassy and heads north. Once it hits the northern tip of DC it curves left and sweeps back around the river (Georgetown) and then loops back up into embassy row and ends next to the naval observatory. There is a lot of looping in the crowded areas because of one-way streets but it does hit every embassy building in the district.

ParticipantMan – I really really wish I could do this one but I have a ride planned. Have fun though and post some pics!

ParticipantThanks for the cue sheet! Looks like a great ride.
Here’s the GPS plot of the ride. http://classic.mapmyride.com/route/us/dc/washington/924129453190390460
I’ll have that loaded in my GPS to help with the navigation. It will hopefully help with navigating the route.
I’ll see you at 0800 at the Canadian Embassy. I’ll be the tall guy riding a fixie with fenders and jinglebells on the handlebars.

ParticipantWhat an amazing ride. It was a lot of fun… definitely monumental. Brad, Chris and I had a great ride. Brad gets HUGE points for putting this ride together. Chris gets HUGE props for being patient while we photographed. It is going to take me a few days to sort through the 348 photos I snapped. I’ll post up a link when I’m done.
Thank you Brad and Chris!!

ParticipantSo sorry I couldn’t make it, and so cool that y’all managed it. Looking forward to 1) the shots, and 2) the second edition of this ride in the spring. I’ll make it happen.

ParticipantThanks to Brad for the planning and inspiration and both Brad and Peter for taking it easy on this old man with all the climbing. I finished with just under 52 miles and 3200 feet of elevation gain. Since I forgot to bring my camera, I too am looking forward to seeing the photos. And where is the Honduras Embassy? The address includes a suite number, so I guess it must be inside the INTELSAT building. Maybe we should substitute the Honduran Consulate at 1014 M St, NW, and we almost went by it anyway? It’s not much to look at, but at least they fly the flag!
