I love my Rickshaw Commuter 2.0. Stylish, super functional, and custom-made in San Francisco…also, less common than Chrome or Timbuktu if you want something a little different. I also have a Chrome backpack with a laptop sleeve, but find my Rickshaw to be more functional under most conditions.

Also make sure you order the cross strap…essential for riding with a messenger bag IMO.

Both my Chrome messenger bag and Chrome Kraków backpack hold my work computer or my on Mac nicely. They are both smaller sizes, so a bit less bulky than some Chrome bags.

I got my friend Peter the Timbuktu Alcatraz backpack for Christmas in customized colors. It was the only one that fit his 17″ computer. Super nice features, and very comfortable.

He also has one of their messenger bags, called Light & Bright or something like that, because it’s reflective and also waterproof. It’s nice too, but he went down one time (rode off the edge of the Holmes Run trail on a rainy, dark night) and his laptop got damaged. He suspects it was because of the way a messenger bag carries a computer kinda diagonally — which prompted thinking about backpacks instead. YMMV.

Timbuktu has more styles than I ever knew until I browsed their website, and they’ll let you customize most of their bags. Which is FUN 😎 plus you can prioritize for colors, waterproofing, reflective features, etc.

I have an Osprey Radial 34. It is a replacement for an earlier Osprey that lost a zipper and the firm replaced it at no charge. Their warranty is pretty amazing. “ALL MIGHTY GUARANTEE – Osprey will repair any damage or defect for any reason free of charge – whether it was purchased in 1974 or yesterday. If we are unable to perform a functional repair on your pack, we will happily replace it.”

While not built as a laptop bag, I found if I pulled the hydration bladder out of my camelback BFM bag the compartment worked great as a laptop carrier for travel. I’ve found it’ll fit most any laptop up to 15in.
