Technical question about ebikes, Strava, and FS

IIUC ebikes (the kind that expose you to the elements) ARE allowed in Freezing Saddles. But FS code looks at strava bike rides (so excluding walks, hikes, kayak trips, etc). On the rare occasions I use an ebike, I take advantage of the Strava feature that allows me to designate an ebike ride – that way my personal records, total annual mileage, etc are all based on 100% human powered rides alone. I think that means my ebike rides would NOT be captured by the FS code, right?

I think they will be included (unless they’re excluded for other reasons e.g. invalid dates or #nobafs or whatever the exclude keyword is).

As a pedaling ski biker, I’d vote no. These rely only on gravity and no pedaling at all.

We can compromise – these miles count as long as you’re climbing. Downhill miles do not count.

We count all the miles we ride downhill, often not pedaling. Gravity is a big part of riding. What if a kid is on a balance bike? No pedals, but still riding a bike, right? E

It doesn’t have wheels, pedals, or a drivetrain, but it does have a handlebar and you sit down, so that makes it a bike? If so, please count the miles I do on this crate bike where I sit down, hold a handlebar annnnd it even has wheels!

We spent months at one point defining what a bike was. Your definition wouldn’t cover this:

I believe the final resolution was that people should be reasonable. And that since this is not the Grand Prix, we were not going to spend major amounts of energy on enforcement.
