ParticipantDon’t bears hibernate for the winter? All of you BiPolar Bears should go back to your warm, cozy dens and snooze until the end of winter. That way, you’ll be fully refreshed when spring starts.

ParticipantWhy not have the whole team take a week off as an act of solidarity with Fithsparo’s convalescing?

We need to pick up Fithsparo. He’s been heroically doing short sleaze rides despite his injuries. But we need to let him convalesce.
Totally agree on Fithsparo’s heroics. Get well soon, Fithsparo!

If the rest of us will just add 1-2 miles a day–a little extra detour–we can make up 100+ points a week.
Aye, aye, cap’n. I’ve been looking for an excuse to check out an alternative route anyway, and you’ve just provided a good one.

If the rest of us will just add 1-2 miles a day–a little extra detour–we can make up 100+ points a week. And definitely get at least the 11-point minimum every day. We’ve fallen to 10th and are being mocked by the BiPolar Bears, so it’s time to show them what we can do!
Get well Fithsparo – you’re an inspiration. I’m back in the working saddle again so to speak and will do my utmost to get in some extra miles this week. Thanks for the encouragement.:p

ParticipantHey team,
Shhh. Don’t look now, but the team-who-must-not-be-named has fallen to 7th and is within shooting distance of, yes, the Bollard Busters. Let’s go get ’em.
Don’t tell anyone.

As for points, my team has a better chance of getting back into fifth place than yours does of getting into seventh. Just sayin’.

And that seems to be the case, except that the Bollard Busters have slipped to 9th.

ParticipantGreat riding today with Fithsparo and Komorebi. Thanks for joining me! And… thanks for introducing me to Bakers and Baristas… that pastry should only take another 2-3 days of commuting to burn off!

Zounds! You’ve figured out my plot to boost our team ranking. Pastry ride -> consumption of delicious pastries -> need for extra miles on the bike to burn off calories from said pastries -> more points for the Bollard Busters.

ParticipantYowza!!!
Eight riders today even with the big snow (and the day’s not over yet, you other two). Way to go, team!We have put some space between us and the 9th place, Revolution 9, team. (Seems with their name, that’s where they are supposed to end up anyway.)
We are within definite shooting distance of both the (Un)Lucky Pr1m3s and the Falling Down team.
A couple of 10-rider days while they are sippin’ hot choc and we’ll have ’em.

Wow!! You are my heroes. Seriously, what’s your secret to riding in the snow??? My tires just seem to skid out. Again, great job everyone!

ParticipantAs you may be able to tell from my Strava feed, I am not comfortable riding in the snow or the ice or the slush, but I’ve managed at least 1 mile every day so far. About a day after snow, the roads in my neighborhood are just fine for my 28 slicks. I ride in the middle of the road, slowly, so I can see any dangers ahead (I’m generally riding at night). One night, because of the ice, I drove my bike to a place I knew would be OK. For a couple of snow days, I rode my kid’s old mountain bike. Those tires were knobby (they are all worn down in the middle, but not on the edges) and the seat is very low so I can always put two feet down.
Yesterday, I got out early, while it was still raining/sleeting and didn’t have any problems. Today, I can ride around the neighborhood streets after work and shouldn’t have too many issues.
So, no secrets, just timing and moxie.
