Wow, so honored to be included on the team Sunyata handpicked for herself! Can’t wait to meet everyone.

So, taking a cue from the other teams, I guess we should introduce ourselves.

Hi, my name is Casey and I like to ride bikes. :)

I live in Fairlington and commute daily to Clarendon/Courthouse in Arlington. I am also a mountain biker, so you will probably be talked into mountain biking at least once this winter.

I also enjoy riding my bike to try out a new beer, so look for beer-oriented group rides (although at least two of our teammates are non-drinkers, so we will also be doing some food-oriented rides – doughnuts, lots and lots of doughnuts).

I look forward to riding with you all soon!

I’m Tania and I need to ride my bikes (3) more. Like this am – I was punished for sleeping in with a disabled metro train ahead of us and then our train being offloaded. I promise to CaBi sleeze a ride or two today though.

I’ve already signed up for a couple of longer races late Winter/early Spring and committed to a century in May AND got talked into joining a race team so yeah…I need to ride more. Plus, if I don’t ride more I’ll lack any reason to buy a Cutthroat and a Beargrease.

Way too much of a cheap date to ride and drink beer (no joke) but I’m all about rides with food…Cronuts anyone? (And please don’t trick me into going to a vegan bakery, like dcv did last year.)

Hi I’m J.C. and I too enjoy riding bikes :)

I’m a DC native, but now live in the Westover neighborhood of Arlington (beer garden anyone?) and commute daily by bike to my office in Rosslyn. And, as my screen-name might imply, I also like to run :)

I started biking two and a half years ago after getting fed up with my bus commute and haven’t looked back since. I look forward to meeting everyone in the near future!

Yo! I’m Mike and I like long walks on the beach.

I live south of Old Town Alexandria and I commute to work in DC daily. In 2015, weekend group rides were common for me, but with the arrival of a baby girl last month, my ride time will certainly decrease in 2016. After cycling in the area (somewhat solo) for almost 7 years, I joined the folks at Bikenetic last year and dusted off the MTB shoes. I was road/commute focused until the last few years when I got into more gravel riding and ultracross races. Last year brought a handul of MTB and CX races, as well… a trend I intend to continue in 2016.

For Freezing Saddles, you’ll see alot of commutes from me and a handful of sleaze rides on the weekends. If the SO and the little one give me the green light, you’ll see me out there for some Saturday/Sunday rides.

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I second dcv’s look… It was glorious and delicious and everything I could have ever wanted (I had a cupcake and almost went back for seconds!).

But… I will also take a cronut (whatever that is). 😎

    Hi,

My name’s Dismal and I’m an alcoh…^H^H^H^H^H^H^H troll.
My goal in life is not to contribute any actual substance to the forum.

I commute from Westover to downtown. On weekends, I do sleaze rides when not taking the kids to their sporting activities.

So what’s with the winning the first round of the first side bet then, eh?

Whew! Finally got logged in after forgetting my password and being locked out for 15 minutes…four times in a row. Soooo, it’s 2:19am now, but that’s not too unusual. I get most of my “work” done during the wee hours when everyone else is sleeping. It’s amazing not having any distractions. Although 50 Shades of Gray is running in the background which I’ve never seen before….and whoa!….not what I was expecting.

I’m Jan (pron. Yon) and am married to bykgrl of Team 7. I am also Miked63’s SO (it’s complicated) which means with my approval he’ll have plenty of time for those Saturday and Sunday rides. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to this “wife” of his to make sure her and the baby are all set. I’ve known Mike about a year longer than he’s known his baby, so I feel like my wants and needs should take precedent.

Most of my time is spent milling around inside a bike shop in Falls Church fixing bikes (ding! ding!) and my commute is less than three miles, so I’ll apologize in advance if my mileage isn’t skyrocketing right off the bat. I will make an effort to squeeze in as many rides as possible (in addition to commuting) and when I do, try to make them count. If a brewery or amazing eatery were to be part of a ride, I’d likely not resist.

I also have the power to manipulate the service queue at the shop, so if you’re ever in desperate need of repair to keep the pedals moving please let me know and I’ll be sure to get you fixed up lickity split! The other teams can wait…

Well aren’t we a bunch of go-getters. And I just checked the leaderboard, which has been updated to show the teams, and we’re in first place by 30 points! Of course, that’s probably due to the fact that we’re the only team to have all 13 of its members show up on the leaderboard, but we can’t help it if the rest of the teams aren’t willing to put in the sleaze rides like we are. (Oh, we also currently lead in sleaze rides.)

Oh, I was supposed to introduce myself, wasn’t I. I’m Kit, this is my first year doing FS. I’m a recovering road racer and trying to focus more on endurance-related events in my advanced age. (I rode RAGBRAI this past summer, but haven’t worked my way up to RAAM yet.)

I primarily ride my road bike. I do have an old Raleigh Technium CX bike I found on the side of the road on junk day last year, that I restored and converted to singlespeed to use as my commuter. So I’m good for the occasional gravel/C&O ride so long as it’s not too fast.

I live between Del Ray and Shirlington and work down near King Street at the Patent Office, so my commute is pretty short (3.5ish miles) but for the sake of the contest I’m trying to do it every day instead of telecommuting. As I posted in the Strava group, I typically get one hall pass a weekend to go for a ride, usually in the early AM, so I’m up for something longer then if we want to get a group together.

I just want to say… Team 8 ROCKS.

We had 3 folks show up for our first group ride (with a drive-by by Kit and Tania) we got coffee/tea, did some hills in Reston (thanks to a Team 11 infiltrator leading us around), stopped at Caboose for a beer and ended in Shirlington for pizza and more beers.

We also have five teammates at over 130 miles for the week and two more that are knocking on 100 miles for the week’s door. Awesome job!

You guys and gals are the bestest! 😮

(We also said hi to some other Freezing Saddles folks: Hi consularrider, kayakcyndi, DaveK, Tim Kelley, jabberwocky!)

Just want to say thanks Team 8 for having me on the team and pushing me to ride over the winter.

I absolutely DID NOT want to get up at 5am this morning and go out into 16F with single digit wind chills but I did. And you know what? I had a blast. Riding my bike is the best part of my day. 😎
