ParticipantTeammates! Comrades! Non-teammates (heck anybody)!

I’m working up an excursion on for this Saturday, and all are welcome to join. Our pace will be mostly moderate (13-14mph or so on the flats), although the route allows for faster riders to have a fast lap or two at Hains Point if you want to stretch.
All times somewhat approximate:
10am Depart Proteus bike shop, 9217 Baltimore Ave (Route 1) in College Park.
10:30-ish to 11am or so Breakfast at Shortcake Bakery in Hyattsville (Route 1 at the NW Branch trail)
12:30-ish to 1pm-ish Bethesda Coffee etc. stop at Paul bakery right off the CCTAt this point, the schedule becomes murky. Laurie’s dropping off to go to a baby shower in Bethesda. We could ride down to Georgetown for lunch and come back and pick her up after an hour and a half or so, getting a few extra miles. Or we could continue on, leaving her to ride home all by her lonesome.
Regardless, I was thinking about a placid route back via the riverfront and Capitol Hill, then back to the Met Branch and home. There could be modifications if we’re behind schedule, but I’m hoping to get back to the shop by 5pm before it’s completely dark. Regardless, it would probably be smart to bring a lock for food stops, and have trail lights in case we’re running late.
Feel free join up along the way and to invite non-teammates. I’m in a communist, from-each-according-to-her-abilities-to-each-according-to-his-needs, non-competitive mood this week, and all are welcome.

ParticipantOops, Shortcake Bakery is closed this weekend for vacation, so breakfast stop will be at Board and Brew in College Park instead. Roughly 10:15am to 10:45 or 11-ish. Passing through the Shortcake Bakery area maybe about 11:30 or so

ParticipantI may be able to join the group in Bethesda.

ParticipantIn similar theme to other team name suggestions, wanted to suggest reordering to put “Team 5” first, as name will likely get clipped in charts. Would suggest “Team 5 – BAFS2016” for consistency.

Not to hyjack the thread but once we get set up and registered I plan to drop the BAFS2016 from our name

ParticipantSure … Well, we probably wantt something to indicate year? I.e. as oppsed to 2013/14/15 team 5. I will start a new thread to provide guidelines from sw perspective on naming, though.

ParticipantOk. I’m learning strava and relearning long for(u)m social media? I’ll probably come across digital frequencies as pretty rude, gruff, and uncultured for the duration of BAFS2016. But I am please to be on team 5 and I think riding bikes is cool.

Great! Did you join the Strava team:
https://www.strava.com/clubs/175416As of this morning, we’re still missing one teammate

ParticipantSince claeys team (14) settled on a name immediately, it’s up to this year’s Team 5 to carry on the tradition of endless (and entertaining) discussion about a team name.
If you have an hour or so to kill, read last year’s Team 5 thread starting with this post.
C’mon this year’s Team 5! You can best them.January 11, 2016 at 2:36 pm #1044789JonRobot
Participantwith that much responsibility thrust onto our shoulders i’m not sure we’ll ever be able to come up with an appropriate name. even if we went with “The Still Untitled’s” in honor of last year we’d being doing a disservice in choosing too quickly.

someone should propose snot-rockets. That’s what really got the discussion frothy last year.

ParticipantI’m sort of partial to “Team 5” actually. Shows my creative personality I guess.

ParticipantComrades! I’m distressed to report that I am going on vacation on Saturday, and will be out of range of the bicycles and the Internets through the first of February, and possibly a bit beyond. We don’t return to the mother country until Feb. 14th.
Would any Team 5 cadres be willing to volunteer for the acting captaincy during my absence?
To my knowledge, the only duties are to be an admin on the Strava club, to monitor this BA forum thread for questions, concerns, complaints, un-revolutionary revisionist running dog sentiments etc., and to possibly organize an occasional team meetup or rideabout.
Please let me know on this thread or by PM or via Strava club discussion and I’ll empower you with admin privileges.
