Hey, I’m your Captain. My name is Brian.

If you were at the happy hour and I didn’t meet you, I am sorry. We had a tiny, little table that looked like it was part of team 19’s table. It took me most of the night to find it. That shouldn’t shake your confidence in my ability to lead this team to victory, points, doughnuts, beer, fun or whatever it is we decide to focus or not focus on. Also, I created the Strava Group for us, please join:

    https://www.strava.com/clubs/2018team20

A little bit about me, since you asked… long time rider, first time freezer. I (like most of you) forgot to check the box that said I won’t ride with people from a specific geographic region. I live in Falls Church. Virginia. It looks like we’ve got a heathy mix of DC, MD and VA on our team. Maybe that will lead to more Freezing Saddles fun? Full disclosure, BMIF is not my original forum name. I originally used another forum member’s name and added a suffix to it. I tried to use this user’s visibility to increase my own while trolling them at the same time. Then I got an e-mail from someone that had gotten some e-mails about it. Lesson learned. Isn’t that what this whole thing is about? Learning lessons that you should have known already? Maybe.

I’d like to organize a Team 20 only meeting. Perhaps we can choose a name and talk about future plans. First on my list of things to figure out: how to create a poll…

    Don’t worry. We’ve got this.

Nice to “meet” you Captain Brian. (I wondered why I suddenly saw you following me on Strava.)

Anyway, I’m currently #1! LOL that won’t last long. I am going to be up in Vermont skiing next week, so please don’t kick me off if I can’t manage to get a ride in. I’m going to try to rent a fat bike and try it out in the Green Mountain National Forest, but that may not work out. It will be a lean week no matter what.

    I just joined our team.
I was at the HH too but never found Team 20’s table. I did manage by chance to meet John from our team later on in the evening and he did say that you were there too Brian. Sorry we did’t get a chance to meet. I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities over the next few months though. Till then …

Hi team 20! And thanks Brian for being our Captain.

Reporting for duty. Looking forward to ‘riding’ with you all. I like the peer pressure at this time of year, it gets me out when it’s cold and raining outside.

I commute 3 or 4 days a week 12 miles each way and sometimes manage a whole week. Weekends is usually sleazing it or a mountain bike ride with my kids. last year I resolved to ride every day and only missed 2 and even though I did a lot of 1.2 mile rides on the non commuting days, it really ticks up your points, which in this game means prizes! So keep getting out every day, even if it’s only a sleaze ride coz it’s worth it.

So what’s our team name going to be? ’20 Mule Wagon Team’ ? :o)

We’ve got most of the team in the Strava club, but we’re missing three:

    BeeTinDC
    jillminn
    rj1754

If you know these team members, help me get ’em signed up. I’ve requested to follow jillminn and rj1754, but couldn’t find BeeTinDC.

Anyone available for a morning meet-up/coffee/ride this Sunday morning? Somewhere in the city?

    Hi there, Team 20!

I was there for the first hour and a half of happy hour and then I headed home… only to have my Jump bike break down on me! (They think it was a dead battery. Tell that to my DYING SOUL as I tried to haul 75 lb of bike up an incline!)

I’m a 3rd time Freezer (had to withdraw last year due to a non-bike-related injury), and long time rider. I commute mostly, in the winter, but I’m also up for decent weather nice rides. My roadie is very, very neglected right now. In the winter, I ride mostly my folder or my cross bike, with a ton of bikesharing.

Once we hit Jan. 16, mode of biking depends entirely on how many books I have to haul to grad school. :-)

Lemme know about a Team 20 event!

    Greetings Team 20 – what’s your 20? BAFS Team 20!
I’m a first time Freezin Saddler and looking forward to the winter of 2018 – which will no doubt go done in History as epochal and unforgettable, right?
You may see me looping HP on a regular (daily) basis. I commute and add miles on the Point. I love it! Maybe team members can get me out on some more hilly terrain?
Anyway here’s to Cap’n Brian! Skol! (Vikings speak for Cheers!)

Steve: I can help you with the climbing. In fact, I would love to subject everyone to unnecessarily steep grades if at all possible. I am also a man of compromise, so I would be happy to join you for a couple of laps on a weekday morning.

I’m thinking Tryst @ 10am. Open to other locations based on who is available and where they live, but this is my first thought. Anyone in Arlington that wants to meet up on the ride in, I’m coming from Falls Church. I’ll go there and drink coffee alone, too. Don’t make me do it.

I’m not sure if we’re leaving Sunday or Monday, so will have to pass. If you see a Sunday morning sleaze ride on me Strava though, please don’t take it personally.

I’ve actually decided to throw the mountain bike on the hitch and take it with me to see if I can sleaze some in Vermont, maybe for morning coffee. I saw one forecast of 10 below zero in the morning though, and my loyalty only goes so far. I also don’t want to be run over on a snow-covered road.

Sorry, but I won’t be able to make tomorrow’s ride as I’m backpacking in WV.
And sorry again as I won’t be able to rack up any FS points this weekend either. I’ll try and do some extra mileage next week. Hope everyone has a fun meet up and ride tomorrow.

    Hi Bob,
Nice to hear from you! I find it difficult ( but not impossible!) to use the forum but I keep trying!
I participated last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I recently moved to Fort Worth, Texas and will be doing most of my riding there. But I am sure I will be back in Falls Church at some point before spring and hope to meet my team then!
    Thanks for being my teammates!
    Best,
    Randi

I can attest to Brian’s love of unnecessarily steep grades. Do y’all know what a sadist is? A masochist who practices the Golden Rule. That is Brian. :D

I have a 20 mile Wednesday morning hill ride that goes off every Wednesday at 6:10 am that we can do as a team. Corner of Rockingham and Powhatan. 30 easy points and we’ll be done by 715.
