ParticipantInfiltration Opportunity! Team 11 is riding for donuts tomorrow. I’m planning on infiltrating.
From their thread:
Planned itinerary: meet at 10:00 a.m. at the Sugar Shack in Arlington, at 1014 S. Glebe Rd; ride to the Sugar Shack in Alexandria, at 804 N. Henry St.; finish at the Duck Donuts in Alexandria, at 3610-F King St. The planned route is about 9 miles, with a few gentle hills; social pace, no drop. It’ll be windy and in the low thirties, so keep that in mind.January 13, 2018 at 10:06 pm #1081618komorebi

Participantmore of a tequila guy, but pie, in its myriad forms, is very much my speed.
Looking forward to a fun Winter!

ParticipantHey Rachel here – sorry I missed the happy hour (and for being a bike slacker lately). I got a nice ride in today and will start trying to make up for my pathetic mileage lately. I have biked to work numerous times – but would like this to motivate me to be more consistent about it. I like to get longer miles in on the weekends and do evening rides when I can. I am a freezing saddles newbie. Last year was my first year racing road and cross and I am a former triathlete.

ParticipantSara here! Back in the land of the interwebs!
I’m a freezing saddles newbie, but have a pretty mean streak going so far, thanks in part to a supercool Airbnb host in NOLA who provided me with a bike to use while I was there! I’m a pretty regular bike commuter by CaBi, but most of the fall I’ve been walking to work and biking home. I live in SW and work in NE, so I’m hoping to use BAFS as an excuse to get more comfortable going UP Capitol Hill!
I also work four days a week and try to use my day off for a long ride (Arlington Loop or the like) as the weather permits. Maybe my definition of “as the weather permits” will change substantially!
PS. Thanks, Judd, for the shoutout on Rookie of the Year! Very nice.

ParticipantHey Team 14! One of your team (Samantha aka smb9600) is doing a coffee ride with me and another friend (Zach on Team 17) tomorrow morning. If any of y’all want to meet us, we should be at Colada, 1405 T Street NW in DC, ~1100-ish.
Judd – Might even do a lap of HP along the way!

Welcome back! And thank you for riding every day. The teams that do best in the points in the contest are usually the ones that have the riders that ride the most days even if it’s for a short distance. Sometimes Bike Arlington gives out sweet prizes for folks with perfect attendance too.
I just got a CaBi membership last month and think it’s awesome that you commute that way. I live near the top of the Air Force Memorial and I’m always impressed when I see someone on a CaBi making the climb. Keep at it! It’s good training.

ParticipantHey team! We’re doing great. We’re currently in fifth place, which as a lot to do with everyone riding consistently every day. Keep up the good work.
As far as a team name, Trey told me on Saturday that we should be the Pieoneurs and that we need to go pieoneuring. Unless I hear a compelling argument for something different by tomorrow night, I’ll make it official on Strava and add some graphics.

ParticipantHey Andrea checking in :p
This is my second year with FS. I bike for fun and commuting. I like all types of sweets. I’m interested in meeting up for group rides. I live in Springfield and park and ride from Alexandria to Navy Yard area.
I’m excited to see how we do!

Come out to happy hour tomorrow at the Velo Cafe on the Wharf. I’ll be there and Casey will be there along with lots of other bike people.

I will also try and talk people into a gravel ride on Saturday since I have two meetings tomorrow where my attendance is required and therefore am saddened to miss the Friday Hooky Ride. Based upon the amount of snow and the freeze/thaw happening this week/weekend, mountain biking is out. So come ride gravel with me instead!

ParticipantJudd – I was channeling you last night. Rode laps around HP while my daughter was at The First Tee. Classroom but also hitting balls on the range. The range stalls are heated, but still cold hitting golf balls. In some ways, colder than riding a bike.
I will miss happy hour at Velo Café.
Haven’t been there yet, but want to go.
