I don’t see why it’s a four-way stop. I think everyone would be happier and safer if they eliminated the stop signs on Van Buren and only had stop signs on the east-west street.
FYI, some people in Alexandria (Old Town I guess) are pushing for added stop signs as traffic calming. BPAC is trying to explain why four way stops are not necessarily good for traffic calming (in particular they lead to less respect for stop signs in general, when they are placed at places that are not warranted by cross traffic)

You’ve fallen soooo far since last year’s BAFS.
True. Last year he would have crashed to the ground, breaking a bone but saving the important parts.

Will emails from people who do not live in Arlington County be helpful?

There are a lot of cyclists who pass through Arlington on their commutes. Highlight that and say how valuable Arlington’s commitment is and how the county is a regional leader. Butter them up!

We probably need to do an environmental assessment of Subby’s no-no zone and then have a public meeting. The early concept drawings involve a tiny boxy steel girder type of design.

One can also say that you like to bike to Clarendon/Ballston, etc. for dinner/entertainment, whatever. In other words, cyclists also spend money in Arlington not just cut through on their commute.

ParticipantArlington County Board Weighs-in on Environmental Assessment of I-66 Eastbound Widening Plan
Impacts to the regional trail network – VDOT has proposed realigning the Custis Trail at Bon Air Park and grade-separating the crossing of the W&OD Trail at Lee Highway. The Board resolution endorses these improvements and asks that VDOT ensure a robust community process will be incorporated into the design process to achieve a context sensitive solution for the W&OD Trail changes.

“The County further recommended that the bridge be named The Chris Slatt Bridge in recognition of Mr. Slatt’s tireless advocacy.”
