I signed up for the full ride so hopefully I’ll see some of you folks there. I rode this ride back in 2013 I think.

I signed up for the 59-mile, and it’s going to be rainy so yay!

How dumb would it be to do this on a singlespeed?

About when would the festivities be concluded if one were to do the long ride at a reasonable (not speed racer) pace? Need to know before I pull the trigger given family responsibilities…

I would guess about 12:30pm, based on my 2013 ride. Depends a bit on how long you want to spend sipping your blåbärssoppa when you get back!

    i.e. 4 hours ~60 miles – including stops.

Should be fine – I think the only notable climb is the Old Anglers Inn hill (1 mi, averages about 4%) , although there’s rollers after that.

Me too! Except I’m doing the middle route. But we can have a Team 2 toast with blueberry soup afterwards.

I’m on the long course, but it will be a more leisurely ride this year.

That would be great! Think about switching to the long course, we can take it nice and easy. I’m planning on sweeping, so you might actually want to ride faster than me, but if you’re off the back, I’ll be there with you! :)

Cool that you’re sweeping! Ok, will think about it! For me it’ll be all about whether I can finish the course in time to still get the free food at the official festivities afterwards. 😮 Food motivation is still motivation, right?

I’m marshaling the Kort Vasa. I’m riding to the House of Sweden from Best Buns, leaving around 8am for a leisurely little spin probably via W&OD/Custis/Key Bridge. Anyone who’s doing the Halv or Kort that would like to rollout with me is welcome to meet me there but Full Vasa riders need to get there earlier than our projected arrival.

WABA isn’t officially releasing the map beforehand, but you can find previous rides on Strava. I think if they make any changes to the route from year-to-year, they’re pretty minor. 2012-2014 look identical to me…

The only significant changes (both were first made for the 2014 event) were that the Full Vasa now avoids the Georgetown Branch Trail out of Bethesda since it has been such a muddy mess and then instead of the Brandywine climb from Broad Branch out of Rock Creek Park, you climb Davenport.

Ok, signed up, paid, a proud new WABA member and soon-to-be Vasa rider.

Doing the long route. Will be closely following Rod to make sure he is doing ok at the end of the peloton. Waiting for the opportunity to attack from the back, as it were. ;)

. . caravan to the start from the Custis/WOD interesection. Time TBD.

Let’s say wheels roll at 7:35 AM for anyone who wants to join the convoy. 59-miler starts at 8:30, so that will get us there by about 8:00, plenty of time to pick up our cue sheets.

I look forward to meeting the mythical Powerful Peter, as Rod and his trailer are easy to spot[emoji4]

What time does the caravan for the full ride set out from the Custis+WOD intersection?
