When our showers underwent renovations I used the bathroom sink to wash my hair and large-size personal body wipes to clean off. For the shampoo I used a big Nats concession cup that I kept filling with water so I didn’t have to stick my head in the sink.

I was pretty surprised at how well that combination worked out. Amazon has a lot of options for personal body wipes.

edit – that idea definitely skeeved me out beforehand but my VERY HONEST officemates said it worked out.

For the last two summers, about to be a third, I have used a washcloth and bar of soap in the restroom. No complaints from coworkers. Actually I worry more about complaints about my riding duds on hangers near my desk, but no complaints there either.

Check with your local hotel. When my office was in downtown (19th and M), we had a deal with the Marriott. It was like $100 for a year membership to their hotel gym facility.

They have to have it to market their hotel; but then it sits mostly unused. It was a great deal and I parked my bicycle in their garage! Added plus to have covered somewhat secure parking.

SW 7th and Virginia? Check out the Loews hotel in l’enfant. They have a fitness center on the roof. Membership wasnt major that I remember. Ah, but the hotel is closed during renovations.

USDA has a fitness center altho that may be fed only. There may be smaller or hotel based fitness centers in your area that you can join for a smallish fee.

I want to commute occasionally from Fairfax so will need a shower!

Do your occasional commute only on rainy days. Two birds, one stone. You’re welcome.

Don’t forget to rub down with soap before leaving home for maximum effect.

On a serious note to the OP, I’ve been in the wash cloth and sink camp for a few years now, even though I have access to a shower. Loads easier to deal with. I’ve also been known to strategically use some hand sanitizer (available for free from dispensers in the bathrooms in my building) to great effect.

I usually get my “biking” haircut about now anyway (like real short) so this would work. Plus my building has lots of bathrooms so I won’t inconvenience anyone. Thanks for the tip!

I never thought about hotel fitness facilities. Good idea! Will look in to. Thanks!

You guys are so nice and helpful! Thanks for your ideas, all of them were good (even the rain one….!) All worth considering. Can’t wait for Spring to remain Sprung!;)

Baby wipes are good, too; all fall and winter I showered before riding, and just cleaned up with the wipes when I got to work. My only problem is that if I skipped a day shaving, the wipes would get shredded on my face, and people all day would be saying, “you’ve got some white stuff on your face.” I also don’t think the wipes will cut it when summer rolls around.
