    Here is an app that I found that keep GPS always on, even when the screen is off, and also ad-free(Link to search result):

    I downloaded it and it did not solve the issue (I made sure the app was on, tried different power settings, etc) I will have to try the Strava faqs or some related bulletin board, I think. I hope its not a hardware issue, as I am not planning on getting a new phone till June at the earliest.

    I presume there is a way to go on airplane mode, wifi off, and just test the GPS in google maps?
