Good morning – Are others having trouble uploading rides from their phones? Yesterday evening and today I’ve not been able to sync. I keep getting the error message, “Server timeout: Strava is taking too long to respond. Please try later.” It just keeps spinning, trying to sync. Apparently 85 percent of my phone’s battery usage is going to Strava…
Any suggestions? Thanks! w&wNot quite what you asked, but I went from Garmin device to my phone via bluetooth to Strava with no problem.

ParticipantTurn the phone off and on again. It could just be Strava maintenance – I think they typically do stuff Sundays. If it still doesn’t work tomorrow I’d try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Any suggestions? Thanks! w&wI had similar issues with Strava on my old phone which is the same model that you currently have (iPhone 4S, if I remember correctly that you had said on an earlier thread). For some reason after finishing a ride/hike/etc., it would go to the Activity Feed and give that error. My solution was the following:
- Finish your ride/hike/etc.
- Enter the name of the ride, photos, etc. and submit it
- When it shows the Activity Feed, quit the Strava app
- Relaunch the Strava app
- When the Activity Feed loads, it should display the message Ride Uploaded
Try it and see if that works.

ParticipantThanks Jon and Bob for the tips. I will keep them for next time it happens (as this was not the first nor, I expect, the last time I shall experience the multi-day spin-cycle on Strava syncing).
Actually what worked just now was to log additional rides. I was worried that trying to save the extra rides would just block up my Strava more, but instead the new rides seemed to push everything through… a good dose of fiber, so to speak!
It’s funny how most of the year I don’t bother with recording my rides. I just ride. But when I do use Strava (for FS and NBC) I want it to work and I fret when it doesn’t. Working in a partial way just isn’t okay.
Thx much for your help! w&w

ParticipantAnyone else having old strava challenges remaining in their app feed months after the challenge ended? Usually they go away a few days after they end, but I currently have them going back to march at the top of the list.

Mine is doing the same thing. I did a bit of googling but couldn’t find anything on it.
