ParticipantIf the little gps icon didn’t come up on your phone, that’s a phone problem rather than an app problem. Sometimes you can turn gps off and on, or just reboot the phone.

ParticipantGPS icon comes up. And Google Maps finds me right away, so I think it’s a Strava issue. I’ll try rebooting the phone though.

ParticipantThat didn’t help.

ParticipantThis might be more of a phone problem, but I’ve noticed my tracks have been looking pretty jagged. I’ve also noticed the distance isn’t corresponding as well with my odometer.

ParticipantMy phone is kind of old, so that may be the issue, but it’s only been happening in the last week or two.

Just it’s way of telling you to upgrade.

ParticipantI wish I could upgrade. This phone is a replacement for the (awesome) Galaxy S3 that I dropped and cracked the LCD. It’s a refurb phone I got from eBay because Verizon won’t give me a discounted phone until next May.

Have you checked out repairing it yourself? I replaced the screen (not the digitizer glass) on my ancient DROID II. It took $12 in parts, $7 in tools, and an hour of fiddly and somewhat nerve wracking work. I figure it’s a 50-50 shot you screw something up, but that still makes repairing a broken phone cheaper than a $40 replacement. You’re welcome to the tools (torx drivers and pry tools) if we can arrange a transfer.

Hmm. That sounds tempting. Let me Google for some instructions and see how bad that would be, and how much I can get the parts for. Then maybe I’ll take you up on the loan of the tools. Thanks.

ParticipantYeah. My phone (HTC One X) now has a terrible time locking on to GPS in Strava (also seems to affect Maps to a lesser degree). I am not sure what update caused this, but very frustrating.
