Well I didn’t see Steve O’s post in time to add to the calendar, but I did go out bright (or rather dark) and early this morning!
Here’s the result:

(PS – in case anybody is considering riding anywhere near the mall this week, I highly recommend avoiding it. My ride back to Arlington after this was a real struggle!)
You rock!

ParticipantHere is my Strava art contribution for today, which pretty much sums up my feelings about the inauguration. As you can see, I’m not exactly thrilled about it.

Idk if it’s gonna repost the map, but the Oscar Wilde ride map is the best strava art I’ve ever seen. If you ever wanna lead it….. It’d be SO COOL TO RIDE IT!!!
If you like this, you need to go back and look at the original FS 2014 thread, in which Fast Friendly Guy put everyone else on the planet to shame.
My favorite was the flower and butterfly.

ParticipantYesterday after fueling up at the Friday Coffee Club (Arlington edition) I set out for my first #StravaArt, also themed for the inauguration:

On Monday after my ride I sat down with a copy of the Arlington Bike map and a pencil and started looking for a part of town that matched my vision, and started drawing and planning. I made up a cue sheet so as to not miss any important U-turns etc, and set out, “sites unseen.”
I’m glad it was a light traffic day since it meant a lot of riding on arteries such as Lee Hwy, and along the way I met some interesting climbing opportunities (aka surprise 7% grade hills). Also, despite what the 2015 Arlington Bike Map says, you can’t get from 17th to the Custis Trail without cyclocrossing your bike down a hill on a muddy unofficial footpath through the woods, and then back up again. Which I did. Because ARTISTIC VISION! 😎

Nice work! And more constructive than throwing bricks!

ParticipantKitty, Your remarks really captured the spirit of GPS art: so many new streets to see and explore for the first time, the unexpected staircase, alley, or muddy hill bushwhack, and don’t forget stream jumping! But all for the sake of art. Your theme aptly apropos. Dave

http://www.reddit.com/r/STRAVAart/This one is mind-boggling in detail and size (60 miles +). Note the discussion of the GPS on/off trick, which takes your road doodling to a whole other level.

And, just to be crystal clear, the link above is NOT a BAFS entry!
