ParticipantIt only took a tube to win your love and affection? I would’ve at least held out for a tire or bottle cage!
Just met Steve-O this year through the Freezing Saddles competition, and he’s among many very cool dudettes and dudes that participate here. That said, he’s the only one I’m aware of that can ride a unicycle in a tux in an underground parking garage race!

Out for a 40-miler on the WOD this morning. Suffered a flat in the vicinity of MM 4. Having trouble changing it, Steve O stopped by to help. Got my spare tube in, but it had a hole it it too. Steve cheerfully gave me his spare and got me on my way.
In the course of all this, he told me about this forum and his display name. So I signed up when I got home, and this first post is to very publicly thank him. What he did was very cool, and I certainly hope the opportunity comes along to pay it forward — I will absolutely do that!
Looking forward to participating in the forum. Steve O: you-da-man!
Gee, I don’t know, saying nice things about Steve O in this forum? Not sure you’ll fit in at all.

ParticipantGreat, now this is gonna go to his head. He was already insufferable at Crystal City Water Park this morning. :p

ParticipantWhen I first read this forum thread title, I figured you were a forum user who met him in person and had, until that moment, thought he was a woman.
He would make a sexy woman though. Super guy.

I’m glad I wasn’t the only person who thought the same thing upon reading the thread’s title. I was like “um…this was a shock? He’s looks pretty dude-ish every time I’ve seen him”.
No insult to Steve O’s abilities to look good in a dress, but I’d prefer not to get that mental image in my head so I wont futher comment on this post…

I feel like for next year’s garage race this totally needs to happen.

And after 40 minutes of diatribe about how you can patch a tube in perpetuity until there is actually nothing of the original tube left…
In a more sentimental note, Steve O was one of the first people to invite me to a social event and I owe a lot of my involvement in the cycling community to that invitation. I’m certain that I wouldn’t ride every day and as much as I do without the group of folks that hang out in this forum and at coffee clubs.

ParticipantI’m the OP. Today I had the opportunity to “pay it forward”. Came across a guy on the MV Trail IVO the airport who was stuck with a flat, and a bad spare tube — same situation I posted about when Steve O helped me out a few weeks ago.
I was able to give him what he needed to get going again, and that felt great. I guess excessive heat and humidity are no match for good karma!

That’s absolutely wonderful! Thank you for being another spot of kindness on the trails. I hope you’ll stick around! Steve-O is a magnet for this group and you’ll find it is a nice place to be. 😮
