ParticipantWell I got my knee scooter today. Now that’s what the medical professionals call it, but we all know what it really is…..a tricycle!!!!!
And yes, I sometimes use it that way around the apartment, esp when I’m going to the fridge (keeps me at shelf level).
I’m thinking of putting blinkies and a bell on it.

For the record, this thing actually gives quite a workout because you are supporting so much of your weight with your thigh muscle. It would also help a lot if the t-bar were curved towards the user so as to be more ergonomic. Oh yeah, and I’d like some shocks and bigger wheels too.

Me thinks it’s actually a quadcycle but it is wicked cool. And by all means, put some lights and a rack on that bad boy but no kickstand, you know, grams and such. [emoji41]

He sure can! Though I’d like to point out that the brakes are not terribly effective so he will have some exciting downhills for sure.

You’re right – it is a quadcycle! Unfortunately its turning radius is huge! I have to do a lot of 3 point turns in my apartment.
I should go out wearing a helmet and lycra head to toe just to freak people out

First off, Shawn’s comment had me spitting my coffee all over my computer as I burst out laughing in the office. Second, DCV doesn’t need no stinkin’ brakes!

ParticipantDisc upgrade, for sure. The 40mm rotors won’t even add much weight.

The wonders of Oxiclean!
Forum needs a “sympathy” button.
Or perhaps an “ewww, gross” button.
Hope you also heal fast.

ParticipantI heard a rumor that if you buy Tim pie, he has all sorts of mystical powers.

Do they have a model with drop bars?

No, but there is one with larger, MTB style tires so you can go over gravel and grass. That may also be the model with disc brakes.
The bench on this thing isn’t soft enough so it causes the cast to dig into my shins . I’m now using a towel as a buffer. Obviously the engineers did not field test this device on themselves. Still beats crutches though.
Unlike a bike, this quad is front heavy so one has to be careful not to go over the handlebars. I should probably be wearing my helmet while scooting around given how clutzy I am.

ParticipantIf I get outside to do any serious wheeling around, I am definitely recording it on Strava though I have no idea what kind of bike I will be able to categorize it as. I should have asked the Ortho for a Big Wheel instead. Now those were fun!

Damn boomer,
That is way more awful than what I have. Glad you were so quick thinking; I don’t think I would have been. My experience with surgical incisions is that they are darn difficult to keep germ free. Tegaderm is pretty awesome if you can start using it right away to keep the bad bugs at bay. Now if the bad bugs are inside you….
Bad bugs are already inside me, so the doc is nuking my system with a combo of cephalexin and sulfamethoxazole-tmp. Hopefully I will emerge from this bulletproof (and short a 9-lifer).
