Looks like that gravel section will be getting some heavier use.

I predict some senior citizen is going to take a spill on these and that’ll be the end of them.

Hmm…perhaps if a seniors group got involved now we could get these axed before somebody gets really hurt.

    Great news!

After passing along these photos, I heard back from Dan Iglhaut of the NVPRA that they were not installed properly and the contractor has been called back to fix it ASAP.

HOORAY. Though what would properly installed look like? Same idea but yellow? Better, but still dangerous.

I was kind of looking forward to hearing about someone jumping them on rollerblades.

My guess would be just not as thick. Similar to what is currently in place at other intersections along the W&OD.

It’s not a rumble strip, it’s a road boil that needs lancing. As an aside, am I imagining things, or is it rougher westbound than eastbound?

Regarding the snowplow comment: a NVPA person told me about a year ago that they had purchased a snow plow for clearing the W&OD an other trails. They did not get a chance to use it last year.

Flash! The rumble strips at W&OD and Cedar Lane are gone! When I crossed Cedar this morning at 6:45 the strips were still there, but between then and noon they were removed. Thanks to everyone who wrote in! Maybe a good idea to send an email expressing appreciation (address in a previous posting).

In case you were worried that new, less obtrusive rumble strips are going to replace those that have been removed, Dan from NVPA assured me this is not the case. Here is what he said:

“Hi Jim- that was an installation error. They’re gone for good! Dan”

His contact information is below in case you want to thank him:
